Animated Kid Shows Today

Addison Smith

Animations have become very popular in our media saturated society. They are seen as flashy, interesting, and entertaining to watch. With every passing day, people seem to find new ways to use them.

Most of us now have access to pretty much any kind of animation software or tool at a low cost. This has allowed almost anyone to create their own animations!

There are many different types of kid-friendly animations you can make.

Puff Puff Pop

In this short animated movie, we are introduced to two young mice named Poppy and Daisy who enjoy blowing up balloons. They eventually notice that all of the interesting shaped balloons have batteries inside them, so they decide to take it one step further and create their own new balloon type by incorporating an air source and battery.

After creating their new design, they name it “Puffle Balloons” because they wanted to call them that but the mouse owner told them not to as they thought they were fake puffs.

They begin sharing their new invention with other mice in their area, getting lots of positive feedback. Their fellow mice tell them how helpful these new balls can be for practical uses such as food storage or shelter building.

One particularly clever mouse notices that some of the bubbles stick to each other, making it possible to carry more ballast than just your normal bubble wrap-style balloons. She suggests using her knowledge of science to determine what element the glue is made of, then looking up recipes online to see if she can find something similar!

She comes across sodium bicarbonate, which happens to be used in baking soda. After testing it out, she realizes that when mixed together, they work wonderfully as needed!

So next, she adds an ingredient called citric acid to help solidify the mixture while also helping preserve the foam longer.

Hey Arnold!

As we all know, The Disney Channel has aired many kid-friendly shows in its history that have left an impression on us as adults. Some of these include Power Team, Drake & Josh, Ben And Candy, etc. There’s also one show though that didn’t quite get the love it deserved when it was released but still managed to stick around for several seasons before getting cancelled.

That show is called “Hey Arnold!” It premiered back in 2003 and ran until 2008. If you never watched it then here I will tell you why it should be added to your list of favorites.

It’s a pretty funny cartoon about two kids named Arnold and Gerald who go to school together. (Surprise, surprise!) Both of them are very smart and constantly talking about math and science concepts.

But what makes the show really special is how it deals with social issues. For example, there’s an episode where Gerald comes across some old photographs which feature people doing harmful things such as smoking or drinking alcohol. This makes him feel bad because he thinks they look cool even after knowing what horrible effects it had on their health.

Another episode features a character teaching his classmates about evolution. Although this may seem like a topic that only high schools teach, it’s actually something that college students must learn about in order to satisfy mathematics and biology courses.

Bob's Burgers

In the TV show, Bob’s Burgers, there is an animated feature called “The Belchies.” The Belchies are two-leggeds with big mouths that constantly belch out green liquid. They always seem to be talking about food or something related to food.

In one episode, Tina makes them for sale at IKEA as part of their "Eat With Us" program. Many people order them and they all taste the same! It was determined that whoever eats a Belchie will eat nothing but food forever.

Overall, most people agree that even though they may not like each other as much as human blood, the chocolate flavor really changes depending on what you have it with.

Steven Universe

In this show, we are greeted to a scene of our main character, Pearl, walking her dog in what seems like an open space. Suddenly, she hears a sound that sets off a flurry of thoughts in her. It is the sounds of someone playing a guitar very well!

She looks around and notices something peculiar about the scenery- there are no trees or grass anywhere. The only thing you can see is a bright blue sky with white clouds floating by. As she listens more intently, she begins to hear music coming from somewhere within the setting.

The music gets faster and louder as it continues to play, but still, Pearl cannot locate where it comes from. All she knows for sure is that it is beautiful and wonderful.

Steven, her dog, starts barking at some unknown source and then runs away. This makes Pearl even more curious so she picks up her phone and watches the TV screen while listening closer. She does not notice anything out of place until she sees herself onscreen.

Her hair has long gone and she wears a tight leather outfit that barely covers her modesty; she looks almost pornographic. When she opens her mouth, you can clearly make out how raunchy and gross her voice becomes.

To top everything else off, her name flashes across the screen! What could this mysterious girl be? Before Pearl can process all of this information, she loses consciousness due to overstimulation.

The Lion Guard

In The Lion Guard, viewers will meet Zuri, who is determined to become the next ruler of the land. She does not hesitate to take action when needed and she is always supportive of those around her.

Zuri meets up with two other cubs as they explore an abandoned area for signs of wildlife. They come across some tracks that do not look like lion prints and seem too smooth to be bear or cheetah footprints.

It is then that one of the new cubs notices something strange about the track- it seems to be moving!

When the three lions try to get closer, the creature attacks by ramming into them and knocking them all down. Luckily, another animal comes to their rescue- a rhino!

The rhino kicks away the creature and helps carry the young lions back to safety. When the rhinoceros gets close enough, he recognizes them and says hello! He introduces himself as Kovu and invites the boys to stay for lunch.

After eating together, the four animals decide to travel together. Before leaving, Kovu gives the boys his equipment- his spear and helmet. After saying goodbye, the three young lions begin playing in the water while listening to music.

Later that night, after returning home, Zuri tells Aru what happened today. While trying to understand why the monster attacked, Aru questions whether there are more monsters out there.

The Backyardigans

In 2008, Nickelodeon put out their first fully animated show: The Backyardigans. Since then, there have been three more seasons of this fun family sitcom. The premise is simple: five kids who live in a house with their father spend most of their time outside playing in the yard or at the beach. When they are not outside, you can usually find them hanging out together as a group or talking about things that make sense to be Kids-esque (science experiments being one example).

Their dad is an architect so he always has work to do which gives him reason to stay home almost every day. This leaves the backyard really empty unless the children bring something to play with. They eventually recruit some kid friendly toys into the collection and start having adventures.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

In the first season, we meet Midge (Rachel Brosnahan), an aspiring actress trying to make it in New York City. She has a supportive husband (Will Ferrell) who helps her pursue her dreams, but she is constantly struggling to pay their bills.

At work, she meets other people with similar aspirations which help her stay motivated. Her colleagues include Anastasia “Asta” Beverdine (Alison Brie), a flashy performer; Jerry (Seth Gordon), a hipster chef; and Stefano "Dino" DiGiacinto (John Michael Higgins), a wealthy restaurant owner. All of these individuals inspire Midge to strive for her goals.

In fact, they push each other to achieve their dreams more than anything else.

Squid Game

In squid game, you are asked to save all of the other players in the world before your own team gets eliminated! The teams remain the same throughout the whole game, but the number of survivors changes every round.

In some rounds there will be more than two people left on each team, making it hard to tell who is going to win until the end. This can make it difficult to predict how many lives each person has as the winner may not want to waste their last life on anyone else.

There are three different types of gameplay for this type of challenge. You have the normal goal of saving everyone, time limits, requiring someone on your team to play quickly, or having no one to help you while trying to keep up with others.

All of these pose unique problems that must be overcome if you want to survive the match and earn a decent score.
