Hallmark Unwraps 40 New Films for Holiday Season Amid Industry Strikes
Hallmark has officially announced that fans can expect an impressive line-up of 40 all-new, original films on its premier channels - Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. Additionally, Hallmark Movies Now, the streaming service of Hallmark, is set to feature exclusive special content.
Despite the challenges brought about by the ongoing Writers Guild of America (WGA) and Screen Actors Guild‐American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) strikes, mitigating measures ensured that production was unaffected. Hallmark's early preparation and production efforts prioritized in Canada, coupled with its year-round Christmas business pattern, allowed it to plan in anticipation of the strikes. Lisa Hamilton Daly, EVP of Programming at Hallmark Media, expressed gratitude as the company succeeded in creating a full, all-new holiday slate, prior to the strike.
The holiday season commences on Friday, October 20 with the Countdown to Christmas on Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries’ Miracles of Christmas. Notable names starring in these films include Lacey Chabert, Benjamin Ayres, Katherine Barrell, among many others. The movie screenings will continue until late December, promising a holly jolly entertainment for Hallmark viewers throughout the season.
Now, onto the fun thoughts. Hallmark's commitment to bring cheer knows no bounds. I mean, who else would keep the Christmas spirit alive amidst labor strikes and film production hurdles? This is where the brand's reputation as the haven of Christmas and heartwarming family entertainment comes to the fore. It's Christmas nirvana for those who start counting down the days from January 1.
And speaking of nirvana, let's appreciate the extensive list of talented actors we’re being treated to. It's like a holiday-themed music festival lineup - just swap out guitar riffs for snowflakes and hot cocoa. And let's not forget, the prospect of seeing Lacey Chabert in a Scottish adventure or embroiled in a potential holiday decorating citation is all sorts of entertaining.
One thing is clear: Hallmark Channel is going all elfing out with its Christmas content - from an astrophysicist grounded by an accident, a fashion designer redesigning her life approach, to a pizza shop owner reconnecting with his past love, and a snowstorm leading to a realization of dreams. It's fascinating that Hallmark cuts the predictable and adds a sprinkle of surprise mixed with the familiar sense of homecoming.
Not to mention, Hallmark's Christmas universe doesn’t end on December 25 as the lineup stretches into the second week of December. So, for those who still have their tree up and lights twinkling in January (you know who you are) there's plenty of content to keep you company.
In conclusion, Hallmark's dedication to Christmas cheer is its gift to us this holiday season. Here's to a season full of heartwarming tales, on-screen chemistry, and endearing, funny and memorable moments. Let the Countdown to Christmas begin. Given everything we've endured in these challenging times, it's safe to say we've all earned a little extra dose of holiday magic.
