How Animated Films Make

Addison Smith

Many people have discussed the importance of animation as an effective tool for business, but few really nail it down until they look at their own lives.

By looking into the areas in your life that require motivation, you can apply this same concept to create more movement and engagement. By creating engaging films or animations, you will be able to motivate those around you to do things, even if it is only for a short time.

Here are some examples of how you can use animated films to promote products and services:

What about creative projects? You could make an animated movie! (Keep reading for tips.)

In this article, we’ll go over some basics about how to start animating and some easy to follow steps to get quick results.

Expressive characters

In film, there’s an emphasis on telling stories rather than showing them. But creating stories is what makes people come back to watch animated films again and again. It's how cartoons retain their edge over live action movies.

One of the main reasons why people love animation is because it allows for really expressive characters. Live action filmmakers can get away with having less expression in their characters since they have real human faces that show emotions.
But animators don't quite have that luxury! They have to be more explicit with what their character is feeling.

This creates opportunities for incredible one-of-a-kind performances that convey unique messages or portray totally fictional characters.

Cinematic effects

Another way to add some flavor to your film is by adding cinematic effect shots or even fully animated scenes. These are typically longer, more elaborate, and not as quick as something like shooting a water drop off of a boat or taking a picture of someone with their face exposed.

The most common type of long scene is one where the character is talking or thinking about something important and they break away from what they were doing to address another person, object, or activity. This creates an interesting cut between settings and modes of conversation and it can be done in any genre or setting.

Examples: A child is sitting at the table eating his/her breakfast when their parent comes into the room. The camera cuts away for a short time to show the parent preparing themselves for work before re-joining the child and starting the day together.

A similar example would be if you had a romantic couple that was breaking up and there was a lot of emotional fallout involved. You could edit out whatever thing they said and just use this technique to create a sense of tension and anticipation.

Dramatic tension

A good story is told through dramatic tension, where the reader or viewer is constantly waiting for something to happen. What makes a good movie dramatic are the scenes that create an intense level of suspense. These scenes must be meaningful and clearly defined so that nothing gets lost during the editing process.

In some cases, these scenes can even become too much. Overdramatization sometimes becomes just as boring as normal drama if the scene does not lead somewhere. An example of this would be when someone almost dies in a car accident but then they do not!

This kind of drag is very common in action movies, which seem to have no purpose other than to show off how badass their characters are. It may also depend on what the character needs at the time; they may need to feel strong or self-aware, so having a lot going on helps them find it.

Visual inspiration

When creating your own animations, there is one thing you cannot do without: inspiration! You must look around you to see what moves you, how people convey messages through movement, and how emotions are portrayed with body language.

You can also watch animated films many times to get ideas for different shots and scenes. Many of these movies contain clever ways to tell a story, so looking at those can help you develop your writing and filming skills.

Film theory like plot, character, rhythm and tone can be applied to animation. Plot means telling someone or something’s back-story, while character refers to who their main person is (the actor) and how they relate to others. Rhythm covers timing and structure, and tone is how an audience responds to a movie. All of these apply here!

There are two major components in filmmaking that apply directly to cartoon making: shooting and editing. Shots are how we perceive a scene, and editing is how we organize the film into sequences. Both can be done using free-flow creativity.

Movie stars

As we know, movie studios spend a lot of money to get famous faces in the media that people watch. It is their way of advertising themselves!

As you may have noticed, many popular movies contain a large amount of screen time for individual characters. This includes having multiple actors play a part in several scenes each week.

These individuals are referred to as movie “stars” because they are very well paid due to the popularity of their character.

However, not every actor gets this recognition even though they contribute heavily to the success of their film. The person who usually receives the most attention is the director.

He or she is often considered the mastermind behind the film, but there are times when this does not feel like it- the reason being someone else.

It can be difficult to determine who really deserves credit for what sometimes seems like an endless stream of ideas and contributions.

Movie locations

Many movie studios have built their reputation by creating fictional worlds that people can relate to or even visit in real life. This is typically done through setting movies in well-known landmarks, buildings, or environments that are clearly depicted or paid homage to.

Many of these settings are so authentic that audience members feel like they’re actually at the given location! It is very common for moviegoers to make online comments boasting about how familiar some scene was with no clue it came from a book or film.

This seems pretty obvious, but it really makes us give credit to the filmmakers for doing an incredible amount of research and putting in lots of effort into making each environment look realistic.

Creative freedom

As we've discussed, stories are built around events that happen to characters in settings, but filmmakers have always known how to tell stories with little event-based scenes or dialogue.

The ancient Chinese wrote storybooks about kung fu masters using elaborate metaphors and symbolism to describe their moves. These tales were passed down through generations via oral tradition before being written down.

In the early years of cinema, writers would write long paragraphs depicting what happened in a scene between two characters. This is why some people call it the “paragraph movie” style.

With the rise of computer technology and cost efficiency, this method gave way to shorter, less detailed scripts that left more room for directors to add their touches.

They could now include longer sequences, creative ways to shoot the script, and more opportunities to use music and other sounds to create an atmosphere. All of these things contribute to the artistic expression of the film.

Creative freedom like this comes only very few times in our lives as human beings.

Less editing

One of the main reasons that animated films seem so natural is because they don’t require as much editing. This allows for more time to focus on other areas, like acting or writing!

As you probably know, live action movies are made up mostly of real people doing fake things. It's difficult to create believable scenes with lots of interaction unless you have a lot of film time.

However, most kids these days never spend this much time watching movie content, let alone quality movie content. Kids are spending their time playing video games and surfing the net, not going out to see a movie.

That’s why there are so many animation series online. They are able to keep broadcasting new episodes due to lower production costs.

Overall, it is just easier to make an animated film than it is a normal one.
