How Does Los Angeles Look Like
The city of angels looks different from season to season, year to year, depending on what you look at and where you are coming from.
Interstate 40 is probably one of the most important roads in LA. It’s not only an easy way to get around the city, but it also gives you great views.
You can see some beautiful picturesque landscapes while driving down I-40. But what many people don’t realize is that there's so much more going on than just scenery.
There are often billboards advertising new restaurants or products, for example. Or you may run into an advertisement for a movie you have never heard of before, which is always fun to watch!
It is very interesting to take note of all the advertisements you come across while traveling through the city, and how they relate to each other.
Beverly Hills
Located in the South Bay area of California, this is one of the most famous neighborhoods in America. It’s also one of the wealthiest with average home prices hovering around the $5 million mark!
Beverly Hills was founded back in 1887 when two brothers settled here after moving from San Francisco. They bought land along what are now Rodeo Drive and Olympic Boulevard and started building their homes.
Since then, it’s been dominated by wealthy families looking to establish legacies. Some built mansions while others constructed multimillion-dollar estates or at least landed properties that retain their value well.
These houses feature lush landscaping, tall gates, and lots of glass. Marble and limestone abound as do impressive collections.
Overall, however, these houses look similar. Most have large windows and roofs made out of tile or copper. While some include artistic flourishes, they all share a classic elegance.
Sunset Strip
The famous Sunset Strip is an iconic area in many ways. It has always been a place for people to go and have fun, but it also boasts some of the most beautiful scenery this city offers.
The beach that runs along the strip features lush green grass and warm ocean waters. Many activities can be done at the beach such as swimming or surfing. People are known to visit the area just for its beauty!
Surrounding the beach are lots of restaurants and shopping areas. If you’re looking to eat out, make sure to check out one of the many famous restuarants like Pink's Burger Joint, Musso & Frank Grill, Bistro 440, etc. Or if you're more into shopping, there are several stores nearby.
If you're traveling with kids, don't worry because the beach is very family friendly and even has equipment available for little ones to use.
West Hollywood
Located in California, west of downtown LA, West Hollywood is easily accessible by public transportation or via car. It’s close to both UCLA and USC so it is popular with students.
West Hollywood has many famous landmarks such as The Pink Hotel, The Container Store, and Melrose Place which are very recognizable. These buildings have made this city famous!
The area also has beautiful parks such as Grauman's Chinese Theater and Griffith Park where you can enjoy nature. Many people come here for its entertainment options like movie theaters and shopping.
Some things that may seem unusual about West Hollywood are the high cost of living and traffic. But if you're looking for an urban feel, this is the place for you.
Hollywood Hills
The most famous part of LA is clearly not its bustling urban centers or beautiful beaches, but rather what makes up the city at large- the hills!
The term “hollywood” comes from the original inhabitants of this area, who lived off of hunting and gathering in these hills. They would use the rich soil to grow crops and eventually settled here as a result.
Eventually people began moving into this area due to it having good water sources and availability of food and shelter, making it more likely that their descendants would stay.
This gave rise to new communities, which later became incorporated cities such as Beverly Hills, Malibu, Santa Monica, etc. All of these now have very wealthy populations and highly protected environments.
These are some of the reasons why the hills remain popular today, even with all the development happening elsewhere in the city.
Pacific Ocean
The next major body of water you will come to in Southern California is the Pacific Ocean. This beautiful, blue expanse covers most of the coastline west of Santa Monica all the way up through Newport Beach and beyond.
The size of this ocean varies greatly depending on where you are in the state. At its widest it is around three hundred miles long, but only twenty-four miles wide at its very tip.
This makes the shoreline quite crowded! There are many popular beaches that sit along large sections of coast so there’s always something to do. If you love the beach then spending some time here is great because there’s never a shortage of space or resources for relaxation.
Beaches in southern California are known for their warm temperatures which make sunbathing an ideal pastime during spring and summer. During winter people often find themselves looking out onto the surf as snow fluffs up on the sand.
Orange County
Orange Country is known for its beautiful scenery, great beaches, and rich culture. It’s also home to some of California’s wealthiest people and most lavish living styles. While this is not everyone in OC, it does make them seem like they are!
Many people assume that all wealthy individuals live in Malibu but this is definitely not the case. In fact, many people have their residences right next door to where they work because they value being close to their office over having a house with an ocean view.
If you want to meet someone who lives in one of the more affluent areas of OC, then there are few things you can’t ask about their lifestyle. More often than not, people are happy to share theirs with you.
It’s important to remember that while these individuals may love what they have, they didn’t get here overnight. They worked hard to achieve their current state so don’t be offended if they tell you that you shouldn’t look or act like you aren’t working hard to afford a similar quality of life.
