How E Animation Came To Be

A lot of people have questions about animating in software like Adobe Flash or PowerPoint, or making your own animations. There are many ways to learn how to animate in you’re very comfortable using other programs already so that is a good starting place if you want to make an animation.

This article will go into more detail about one way to start creating your own animated stories by learning the field called e-Animation. This was originally coined “Electronic (or computer) Animated Films” but has been rebranded as just plain old “e-Animations” for simplicity.

There are several different types of videos you can create with this technique which all revolve around someone talking while something else changes behind them or next to them. These changing objects are what gets animated.

Typical examples of these types of videos are: conversations where someone talks while something else shifts position, everyday life situations such as kids arguing over who gets to use the toy truck, or students discussing material.

History of animation

While many people associate cartoons with children’s programs, they are not necessarily designed for kids. Some examples include: The Angry Birds movie, How to Train Your Dragon 2, The Lion King, Beauty And The Beast, Thor, Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Avengers Assemble, Suicide Squad, Justice League, Aquaman, Flash, Shazam!, Ghostbusters, The Joker, Supergirl, Infinity Wars, and so much more!

Animation has been around since at least 1849 when Edward Lear created his first cartoon in London, England. Since then, it has grown into one of the most popular forms of media, spanning all ages and cultures.

There are several types of animations including:

Graphic novels or comic books that contain animated sequences

Short films (less than 5 minutes)

Feature length movies (usually 1-3 hours)

TV shows that use some form of animation (e.g., Netflix, Nickelodeon, etc.)

Video games that have levels or scenes that use some type of animation

In this article, we will discuss the history of animation as well as some of its different styles. Then, we will talk about some famous animators and their careers.

Famous animated films

Many people consider Disney to be the king of animation, but that really isn’t true. You can look at some of their movies like The Lion King or Frozen as examples, but they are not the only ones! There are many other greats such as Harry Potter, Toy Story, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda, Despicable Me, How To Train Your Dragon, Monsters Inc., Ice Age, Up, A Bug's Life, The Iron Giant, Finding Nemo, Wreck-It Ralph, and so on and so forth!

There have been quite a few actors who made a name for themselves by acting in cartoons and/or feature length animations. Some of these include Bill Cosby, Ben Affleck, Chris Pratt, Kristen Bell, Jennifer Lopez, Samuel L Jackson, Steve Carell, Hugh Laurie, Justin Timberlake, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Ryan Reynolds, Tom Hanks, Scarlett Johansson, and even Robert Downey Jr. Who wouldn't want to hang out with all those characters? 😀

We see it time after time: good writers write what they know, and good storytellers tell stories they are familiar with.

Famous anime

Many people know Japanese animation (or, as it is more commonly known, “anime”) for its flashy graphics and epic stories, but there are some things that set this genre apart from others. One of these things is what we call an e-Animation style.

An e-animation is when one part of the movie or episode looks like a still image while another part moves slowly to create a sense of continuous action. For example, if the screen displayed only your feet moving up a ramp, it would be an instance of an e-Animaiton.

This effect was popularized in Japan by Makoto Shinkai with his movie The Place Promised In Our Lives. This movie used it to incredible effects during dramatic moments. There are several other examples of this technique being used in various movies and TV shows.

Another type of e-Animation that has become very popular is what is referred to as an Okaeshi shot. These shots occur when someone is walking away and something happens immediately behind them, creating a quick cut between the two.

These cuts are so fast that you have almost no time to process what just happened before the next event comes along. This creates a feeling of intensity because you are never really given time to think about what occurred previously.

Difference between animation and video games

While some may consider animating or creating videos of yourself for an extended period of time to be a form of animation, it is not! That is indeed creating animated movies! Creating an animated movie requires significant preparation before filming and editing takes place.

Animation comes from the word animate which means to bring into life or energize something that was previously still. For example, when someone smiles for the first time in a while, they are bringing a expression to life.

Making an individual laugh is very entertaining to watch, but how about listening to a song? When someone dances for the first time, they are bringing their feet to life.

Dancing is way more complicated than just moving your legs, so let’s go one step further; dancing at its finest is extremely intricate choreography!

Animations are no different. They are usually two or more pictures or events put together to tell a story. A lot of times, people add slow motion or quick flashes to give weight to the event being depicted.

What is an e-animation?

An animation done using only either CSS or JavaScript is not a very in depth explanation, but it does bring us one step closer to creating truly interactive web pages.

What is referred to as an “e-animation” is really just something that uses keyframe animations. Keyframes are defined as still pictures of your element along with some settings such as position, scale, and/or rotation. These can be set to transition from one state to another or stay fixed while being moved around.

There are several types of keyframe animations you can do, like traveling waves, vertical oscillations, and more! More complex transitions require advanced knowledge of both CSS and JavaScript, so do not worry about trying ones out unless you feel comfortable doing so.

What is a 2D animation?

Many artists use the term “animation” to describe all sorts of styles, approaches, and techniques. But before we get into some examples, let’s first define what exactly an animation is!

Animation comes from the word animate, which means to bring life to or stir up something that was already alive.

So when you say “animation,” people usually think about sequences of images that tell a story. Movies and television shows do this all the time (think The Jungle Book). This type of animation is called photorealistic or cel-shaded animation because it uses photographs as source material for the characters.

Other types of animations are not photographic. They may be hand drawn, painted, or crafted using other mediums such as clay or plastic. These nonphotographic methods are referred to as illustration-based or flat style animation.

The most common type of animation is 2d animation. This is typically referred to as drawing pictures of things that go in and out of focus. For example, if you take a look at any movie you have seen, almost every scene has at least one character with their face visible and then part of their body or background behind them.

What is a 3D animation?

A very popular form of animated storytelling is called three dimensional (3D) animation. This is when animators create scenes that seem real, and not flat or two-dimensional like traditional cartoons.

In an early era of cinema, filmmakers would use live action to tell a story, then they’d add in some painted scenery and/or special effects. More recently though, technology has advanced to the point where we can now add additional layers to stories, which are referred to as animations. These include things such as interacting with other characters, setting pieces together or breaking apart, and sometimes even having the character talk!

This article will go more into detail about what it takes to be a successful artist for this field, but first let us discuss what exactly a 3D animation is.

Tips for animating

When it comes to animation, there are three main things you need to know before diving in. These are pose-to-pose or keyframe animations, action animations, and storyboarded animations.

Pose-to-pose animations are one of the most common types of animated illustrations. They are typically two frames long (one at a time) with some kind of expression or body language involved. Some examples include kissing, waving, and throwing something away.

Action animations are very similar to choreographed dance moves. A longer length movie or film often has scenes that contain an extended amount of action. For example, a person walking across a room or climbing a ladder.

Storyboards are like writing stories. You have a topic, a transition, and a conclusion. An animation is just this but expanded into a few minutes instead of pages. A good way to learn how to make your own is by creating a storyboard first and then developing your skill level from there.

Now that you have seen what each type of animation is, what they all have in common is that they use repetition and change to create movement and storytelling.
