As we grow older, we begin to see how much of an influence media has on our society. A lot of what people believe about life is influenced by what they watch or read.

Hollywood seems to be using its power to push an agenda that is very liberal. They create fictional stories that promote ideologies like feminism, LGBT rights, and multiculturalism.

Many people may not know it, but every major movie franchise includes messages about equality and diversity. For example, both The Avengers and Black Panther have messages promoting acceptance and respect for all cultures.

This article will talk more in depth about some examples of this and why it is important to study media as a form of literacy.

I wanted to start my article with a story about how popular movies are used to spread messages. This message-spreading tactic is not new, and it is one of the most powerful ever invented.

The term “media literacy” was first coined back in 1987 when author Jean Boudreau wrote her book titled _Reading And Writing With Media_. Since then, the word has been evolving and growing into something bigger.

Today, many refer to it as "critical literacy." Either way you put it, it is essential to learn how to use nonfiction texts (like this article) efficiently.

Why is this so important? Because we live in a culture that is constantly being bombarded with messages.

As we know, the term ‘Hollywood’ has shifted in meaning over time. When it was first coined during the 1920s, people used the word to refer to what is now referred to as the movie industry or film business. But as time went on, the media began referring to this large cluster of industries that include feature films, television programs, music recording, and internet content such as videos and podcasts more broadly as just 'the movies.'

Today, using our updated definition, we can say with confidence that anyone who makes money off the production, distribution, marketing, or consumption of moving images is part of the movie culture. This includes actors, directors, writers, producers, musicians, and others involved in creating, promoting, and distributing stories told through pictures.

History shows us that while the process of making and consuming movable imagery seems relatively constant today, there have been many changes along the way.

In this article, I’ll be talking about some of the most well-known writers in the business and why they’ve succeeded. You don’t need to be like them to succeed though - only adding their tools and tricks to yours can make sure your writing gets seen.
