Outline the story

Writing a movie script is much like writing any other book. You start with an idea or storyline, and then you create a narrative to explain what happens in the film.

The difference between screenwriting and normal books is that the scenes in a screenplay are not written out in order. They are instead organized into acts and chapters.

Acts can be anywhere from one to five minutes long, while a chapter can be anywhere from two to eight pages (a page being equal to four lines of prose). This organization allows for your writer’s mind to sort of flow about how to connect events.
