How Is North Hollywood

As seen in our top five, people have been visiting Santa Monica beach for decades to take part in various water sports like swimming or surfing. Some even enjoy laying down and floating around as if they were taking an extended rest on the sea!

However, what is usually overlooked about this beautiful area is its rich history. Before most of us had ever heard of California, Southwesterners enjoyed spending time at SMB exploring the beaches, surf, and underwater life.

In fact, many believe that Southern Californians pioneered some of the best ways to enjoy the ocean. They are so passionate about it that there’s now an organization dedicated to spreading their knowledge - The Surfrider Foundation.

The mission of The Surfrider Foundation is to preserveand promote public access to oceans through education, advocacy, research, and organized action. By raising awareness about and educating people on the importance of protecting and enjoying the world’s waters, they hope to inspire others to do the same.

History of North Hollywood

Located in the northwest area of Los Angeles, North Hollywood is a relatively newer part of the city. It was founded in 1910 as an oil boom town that quickly fell into obscurity. The main reason for its downfall was due to lack of public transportation.

In fact, there were no buses at all! If you wanted to get somewhere, you had to either take your own vehicle or rely on taxis or private cars. This made it very difficult to connect with people and to do business in the area.

So what happened? People left. Many businesses closed down or relocated because they could not survive being accessible only by car.

Over time though, some positive developments took place in North Hollywood. Technology companies began establishing themselves here, bringing in workers who needed easy access to transport.

The California State University - Northridge opened their campus here in 1972, making this area more attractive for students looking to further their education. And in 1985, Warner Brothers Studios moved into the area, giving rise to many other media production companies coming along after them.

Since then, North Hollywood has seen steady growth as more large corporations have established headquarters or facilities here.

Largest employers

As of February 2020, there are five major employers in North Hollywood with at least 1,000 employees. They are as follows:

Universal Studios/University-Level Film Production School - 2,400+ jobs

- 2,400+ jobs Sony Pictures Entertainment -2,100+ jobs

- 2,100+ jobs Warner Bros./MGM Resorts International-1,800+ jobs

- 1,800+ jobs Nickelodeon-1,600+ jobs

- 1,600+ jobs Paramount Television Studio-1,500+ jobs

The average salary for these employers is around $60,000 per year. In fact, some positions will pay over $70,000 per year!

Nickelodeon pays its TV show producers an average of $40K-$50K per season (which can be up to 12 episodes) which includes their salaries, production expenses, and profits shared accordingly. The top earners get even higher bonuses and raises.

You could spend hours doing all three of these! If you love nature, there is an amazing hiking trail right next to Griffith Observatory that takes about two hours to complete.

If you like entertainment, then head over to The Forum Shopping Center where you can find movie theaters, large food vendors, and even a bowling alley!

Visit one of our museums! We have two very popular museums that are free to attend- The Museum of Animation and The Gold Planet. Both offer interactive experiences and lots for kids to look at.

The Museum of Animation features displays dedicated to different types of animation such as claymation, stop motion, computer generated imagery (CGI), and traditional 2D cartoons.

It also has an area dedicated to educational toys which is always interesting to see. Kids will enjoy looking through all of the cool gadgets they display.

There’s even a movie theater where you can watch a few short clips or full length movies! It’s perfect if you happen to be in the neighborhood.

The Gold Planet is another fun way to spend some time. You get to explore the space and learn about gold while doing so. There are also some impressive looking pieces of jewelry on display.

Sports teams

Team names are an integral part of sports fandom. Some feel that team names like The Los Angeles Rams or The New England Patriots is too close to using the word “football”, but we all know what kind of game this franchise puts on!

North Hollywood has their own little football team in the form of the Hammerheads. This name was picked before there even were buildings in NH so it makes sense that they would have some sort of connection with football.

Not only does the community connect with the team, but people also get involved in the organization outside of just watching games. People who work at the local soccer field help organize charity tournaments for the team. They also do things like run around as zombies during the season finale to promote the show that the team produces called Super Bowl Sunday!

These charities are important because they give back to the area by helping those in need. Since the staff members spend time promoting the team through running around as zombies, they bring attention to the network the team uses to broadcast games which can benefit them in many ways.

Nutritious foods

One of the biggest reasons to be healthy is because most nutritional guidelines tell us that we should eat more vegetables and less meat. That’s why some people are referred to as “meat and potatoes” types.

However, not all veggies are alike. Some contain lots of calories while others have little or no fat content and very few carbs.

So what kind of vegies are best? The ones full of minerals such as vitamins and nutrients. And for teens, those with vegetarian diets may lack key B-vitamins like riboflavin, niacin, and thiamine.

These vitamins play an important role in cell growth and function, so if you don’t include them in your diet, you could suffer from health problems later on.

Many people know this city for its large population of acting professionals, but you probably didn’t hear too much about it until now. Some famous faces call this place home!

Actors and actresses from all around the world have lived in North Hollywood since long before most people were born. You may recognize some or even all of them today.

Acting is an art form that goes beyond just saying lines back and forth to get laughs. It takes years to perfect your craft, so there are many ways to stay busy as an actor in this area.

Some pursue more traditional routes to become a professional actor by attending acting schools, while others find work doing voice-over jobs or playing minor roles in movies and TV shows.

Others choose to be involved in the film industry after becoming successful businesspeople with their own companies or investing in startups.

Many famous artists have lived in or visited North Hollywood at some point in their career. These include legendary singers, songwriters, instrumentalists, and rappers.
