The buffet is one of the biggest attractions at Hollywood Casino in Las Vegas, so to speak. There are always lots of foods available, there’s usually something for everyone, and you will definitely find what you like.
The casino boasts that they have enough food to feed up to 100 people per person every 30 minutes! That’s almost 2 hours of eating opportunities across their buffets alone.
But how expensive is it? We took some time to compare the prices at Hollywood Casinos across America to see just how much savings you get by going hungry instead.
We also broke down how many meals each cost depending on whether you eat half or whole things, as well as if you share any beverages.
Decide if you want to dress up or wear comfortable clothes
The buffet is always open, so you never have to worry about it closing down! This can be either a good thing or a bad thing depending on how hungry you are at that moment. Because the casino does not close for very long, people sometimes go overboard in terms of food choices and spend large amounts of money.
If you do decide to eat there, I would recommend staying within budget unless you know what foods they offer and what tastes best. Also, don’t overdo it because you will pay more later when you bring your own food or buy snacks outside.
Something important to remember is that the casino offers a variety of drinks and beverages, including water, iced tea, juice, soda, and alcoholic beverages. All of these cost extra, which can add up quickly if you are drinking them during the rest of the day.
Arrive early to get a table if you want one
The buffet at Hollywood Casino is, quite simply, an embarrassment of riches. There’s so much food that there are several ways to experience it.
You can spend hours going back and forth from the freezer to grill to bakery to pasta bar to salad bar. And while some things may be over-run, most will always have enough for your stay.
The casino offers a standard American breakfast which includes scrambled eggs, sausage links, bacon, toast, bagels, cereal and juice. They also offer oatmeal with berries or cream as well as hash brown potatoes and either meat, cheese or both.
If you’re hungry later in the day, they have lunch options such as soups, salads and sandwiches along with chips and dessert. For dinner, they have pizza, Chinese, Mexican and Italian foods and more than just about anything else, steak!
There’s even a sushi restaurant directly across the street where you can pick up some snacks to take away or eat right next door. All this and more for active guests who enjoy moving around.
Get a table card if you want to save money on drinks
While having an overall great buffet experience is always advised, one thing that can add up quickly is the drink costs. Luckily, there are ways to avoid this by getting or making use of a “table card”.
A table card allows you to choose how much alcohol you would like to drink while still staying within your budget. The casino will match these prices for each cost category (drinks, main courses, appetizers) until you run out!
This way, you get to enjoy food and drink to their fullest without spending too much money.
There are many different buffet areas at Hollywood Casino
The main restaurant of the casino is called Swingers, and it has been consistently topping all-you-can-eat food facilities since it opened in 2013. With its open kitchen design, you can watch your friends as they order their own meals and try new things you have prepared for them!
The menu changes every few months, but there always seems to be enough options for everyone to choose from. Some of the most popular items include chicken fingers with dipping sauces, nachos, pasta dishes, flatbreads, salads, dessert bar, sushi, stir fry, meat/vegetable kabobs, and more.
There is also an event room next to the restaurant where large groups or parties can eat. This way people do not need to go outside to enjoy the amenities of the hotel while eating.
Try the different buffet areas to see which one you like best
The MGM Grand’s International Food Court is arguably their most popular buffet area. It features more than 20 international cuisine options, everything from Italian pasta dishes to Japanese rolls and sushi.
There are also several food stations that offer vegetarian and vegan choices. Some of my favorite foods at the ICFC include the Jamaican Roasted Garlic Bread, Korean Bibimbap (mixed rice bowls with vegetables and meat) and Thai Coconut Rice and Noodles.
The dessert bar has some great looking sweets such as chocolate lava cakes and apple brownies in an easy-to-access plate shape.
Eat your favorite foods at the buffet
The best way to enjoy the MGM Grand’s epic buffet is by trying something new every time you visit. There are always lots of food choices, and you can find just about anything here.
Many people complain that there isn’t enough variety in the dishes at the casino buffet, but I don’t think that makes much sense.
The reason why they don’t have as many different types of food is because most people seem to like what they put on their plate already!
By staying within our own culinary comfort zones, we're not exposing ourselves to new flavors and textures. So instead of sticking with chicken or steak, go outside your box and try some fish or pork sometimes!
We could also say the same thing about drinks- none of us really knows what we want so it's hard for them to cater to that need.
What is needed at a buffet though is space, which the MGM has plenty of. You get several feet per person if you eat standing up, making it possible to explore all areas of the restaurant.
Try new foods
As tempting as it may be to stick with what you are familiar with, trying new food is an excellent way to increase your culinary diversity.
Throwing away money because of taste preference is not the best idea so why not try something new?
A good way to start is by trying recipes for things that you would normally never put in cooking. For example, how about roasted mushroom pasta or grilled vegetable stir-fry dishes?
There are many online resources available to help get you started with this! Many have interactive menus where you can choose what ingredients you want to include and let the computer take care of the rest.
Overall, aside from cost, the only factor that comes into play when choosing what foods to cook and eat is personal taste.
Dine with friends
The casino has a buffet-style restaurant that is open for lunch and dinner, so you do not have to make hungry people wait while you eat or get tired of having the same food item over and over again.
The hotel’s restaurant offers more than just snacks and drinks, it also gives guests an incredible meal worthy of eating out at a high end steakhouse.
They offer many different types of meat such as chicken, fish, dry-aged beef, and even wagyu beef which is very expensive.
Their dessert selection includes sweets like brownies and chocolate chip cookies, cakes and pies.
