How Old Is Paul Hollywood
As we all know, The Great British Bake Off is in its fifth season! This means that there have been five bakers that have competed as teams each week with every contestant being declared either “Baker” or “Cup Winner” at the end of the show.
Since it premiered in 2010, Graham has been the only baker to remain in the competition consistently throughout the years (until this year!). He was even crowned Bakemaster in 2015!
He is now 35-years old which makes him one of the older contestants in the show. What does he do when asked how his age affects his baking career? Does he try to hide it or play up on it?
Well, aside from working hard and keeping himself busy, he simply treats his advanced years as an advantage. His experience helps him to pick up new skills more quickly than if he were younger where he might need to practice and hone his craft longer.
But what about after the workday? When he gets home, does he keep cooking or do something else? For Graham, it’s always the latter!
He loves to read so he usually finds ways to add books to his collection or make use of them by reading recipes made for things like cookbooks. Then, he will get into the kitchen and actually bake or cook whatever recipe he picked out!

Early TV show
He was the host of The Funniest People, which premiered in 2001 as one of the first big-screen comedy series. As his profile has risen so have his responsibilities at Channel 4!
He now presents Britain’s Got More Chances, an interactive game show where contestants get to boost their chances of winning by choosing from different teams.
His latest presenting job is for Get A House Fund, which he presented between May 2017 and January 2018. This gave people the chance to win up to £250,000 towards a house.
Since then he has rebranded it as Dream Home Giveaway, and is still hosting it until October 2019!
These days, Paul doesn’t just present shows, but also produces them. His most recent producing credit came with Richard Hammond (The Great British Bake Off) in March this year, when they made a Christmas special.
Paul has been working in television since 1997, making him one of the longest serving hosts around.
Early radio show
In 1995, Paul began hosting The Paul Harvey Breakfast Show, his first daytime talk show. He hosted this daily program for twenty years before he took a break in 2013 to focus on other projects.
He is perhaps best known as the host of the long-running public service programs such as “The Restoring Alliance” and “Why Does America Use So Much Oil?” but his career also includes stints working at NPR, CNN and Fox News Channel.
His first position was as an associate producer at WABC Radio where he worked from 1989 to 1992. After that, he became programming director at WGN Radio where he stayed until 1997 when he moved over to Chicago's WBBM TV as morning news anchor.
It wasn't too long after moving to television that Paul got his big break. A friend connected him with Jerry Dunlevy, who left his job as executive producer at Clear Channel Broadcasting to work under Paul. This gave Paul his opportunity to begin hosting The Paul Harvey Morning Show which aired on more than 200 stations across the country.
Since then, he has continued to develop his media presence by writing columns, appearing on podcasts and giving interviews. All of these have focused on life lessons or motivational messages.
When did he start hosting the Great British Bake Off?
After graduating with an honours degree in food technology from Manchester University, Paul began working as a quality controller for a company that makes chocolate truffles. He was also a member of several amateur baking teams. In fact, his most recent team won first place at The Ambitious Bakers’ Show 2017!
In May 2014, Channel 4 gave him his big break when they asked if he would like to be part of their new show. They invited eight bakers to compete as the next members of the Great British Bake Off professional baking team.
He now hosts the show alongside Prue Leith (Baker) and Noel Murphy (Catering).
Personal life
Having known him for over two decades, I’ve come to realize that not much about his personal life is ever truly private.
He shares almost nothing about himself with people outside of work and he doesn’t seem to care what people think of him either.
If you ask him something direct like “what does your wife do?” or “are you married anymore?,” he will usually give you an answer but it won’t be very detailed.
He never mentions anything about his family or past relationships so it’s hard to know if he has any kids or ex-wives.
But he always speaks highly of his parents who have been supportive throughout his career and he seems close to them at least once a year. He also talks frequently about his younger sister whom he apparently loves dearly!
His friends say that he is loyal and trustworthy which may help explain why he was given such a high position in the TV industry. People who know him describe him as fun to be around and creative.
He clearly enjoys creating new things and being involved in various projects related to television.

After leaving The Great British Bake Off, Paul left us with some final thoughts as he announced his retirement from baking. He also mentioned how much he loves filming in London and that it will be something he looks forward to for many more years.
He even listed off all of the different places that The Great British Baking Show has shot! Some are very well known sites such as BBC Studios or outside venues like parks and restaurants. Others may not always get recognized but they’re still important to have knowledge about.
Many bakers probably know what location chocolate comes from (the cocoa bean) but less likely know where vanilla is found. Or maybe you know milk comes from cows but not where water goes after being pulled out of the ground. If you're passionate about baking, then you'll want to know these things!

Who is his favorite celebrity bake off contestant?
As of this writing, he has one very strong contender for best baker in The Great British Bake Off! His current favorite bakesman is Hannah Godwin, who competed in season 7 as part of the Gingerbread team.
Hannah’s perfect squares were inspired by an edible gift she received as a child. When she made them as a student, her teacher gave her an A+, which was enough to make her happy.
She says that baking gives you "confidence and it makes you feel good about yourself." You get to use your skills and pay attention to detail, two things that are valuable to us all.
It also seems to be a way to connect with others, especially when everyone in the room is eating something delicious. We can relate to those qualities.
After filming her run at the show, Hannah went onto to win $10,000 and have her recipe featured on Rachel Ray‘s website. She now teaches culinary arts at high school level.
Does he have any pets?
As we mentioned before, Paul has three kids that take up most of his time. He is very involved in their lives and studies hard to ensure they succeed in life. He tries to be as active with them as possible whenever possible.
He does not have many hobbies at this stage of his life, but when he does it’s mostly focused on fitness or eating healthy foods.
He loves to eat so much that he launched his own line of cooking products last year! You can find all of these items online or in stores now.
He doesn’t like doing things for money so buying a new pair of shoes isn’t something he feels compelled to do. If someone asked him if he was investing in some sneakers, though, he would totally put some money down!
And while he may not have many furry friends at home, he is very supportive of other animal lovers and participates in various dog-related activities through work and outside of work.
