How Old Is Wednesday Addams In The Animated Film?
We all know that The Addam’s Family TV show is about an eccentric family of five, but what you may not realize is how old some of them are now! While there have been various theatrical feature films based off the series since 2013, one of the latest being last year, none of these features actually focused on just how young or how “teeny-bopper” the characters really were.
She is in her 40s
In the very first scene of The Addam’s Sons, we see that Wednesday does not have much hair. Her long brown locks are tied up in a messy bun with some loose strands coming down across her forehead.
She is also wearing dark sunglasses which she removes to check messages on her phone. As she puts them back on, you can tell she has beautiful blue eyes just like her father.
Her dress looks professional but still fashionable as it features lots of lace and florals. It even has ruffles!
In the next few scenes, we get more details about who this strong willed woman is and what makes her so special.
She loves fashion and design so she starts her own line after graduating college. Then she uses her skills to help rebuild New York City after a natural disaster devastates the area.
She is in her 50s
While she does not have any children of her own, Addy is very supportive when it comes to encouraging people to be parents. As such, she has always been open about being a parent herself.
In an interview with Collider, star Annette Heldebrant stated that Addy was “in her fifties” at the time they filmed their first scene together as mother and daughter.
Heldenbrant also said that even though there are no grandparents in the movie, you can tell that Addy loves her father dearly and he will play a big part in her life going forward.
She added: “I think what makes this film work so well is how much we get to see these characters develop as human beings. You feel for them because you go through similar things yourself.
She is in her 60s
With the recent release of The Addam’s Family Movie, many people are talking about how much Wednesday looks like she is in her twenties. This has led to some theories that she could be even younger than what we know! While it may seem crazy at first, there are several reasons why this makes sense.
First, she did not begin wearing black leather pants and tight-fitting shirts until she was around twenty years old. Before then, she wore more classic clothing styles. Even when she began donning less conventional clothes, they were never really attractive or suggestive.
Second, she does not appear to have any kind of family as adults aside from her brother. As such, she would not have learned proper social skills by interacting with older people.
Third, she seems very comfortable in her own skin. There is no need to assume anything about her because she does not put herself out there often.
She is in her 70s
There are two scenes in The New Addam’s Sons where Wednesday appears to be older than she actually is. In one scene, she puts away some dishes and then grabs an empty glass that was sitting there before. Her hand does not cover the whole height of the glass, making it look like she did not quite fill up the drink she just sipped from.
In another scene, she dresses herself in clothes with shoulders and sleeves but no neckline or waist line, leaving her very exposed. This makes it seem as if she were wearing nothing underneath which would make sense since we saw her naked earlier in the movie.
Since these scenes occur early in the film, this doesn't matter too much except for the fact that she seems much older than she actually is.
She is in her 80s
In the early 1990s, there was an animated television show that featured a character known as The Mortimer Snerd. He was a teenager with dark hair and glasses who dressed in very cool clothing. His style was heavily influenced by ’80s fashion and he had some sprucing up to do!
He needed a new hairstyle so his friend Cat suggested going into the future for some cutting-edge technology. When they got back, he would have a bowl cut with long sideburns like Lady Gaga’s.
Cat and Morty visited another time period to find out what people were wearing then but they did not return. They found out it was the 1980s so they gave him a haircut inspired by that era.
After filming their scene, someone asked if anyone wanted toast or cereal. He said yes and she went to get some. While waiting for the toast to cook, she made her first appearance as we know her: A teenage girl in a bathrobe eating breakfast.
Her name is Wednesday Addamo and she does not seem too keen on having lots of kids.
She is in her 90s
This week’s movie is set in the not-too-distant future, when Wednesday (Uma Thurman) is hosting an episode of her famous TV show The Fun House. While talking about death and afterlife, she mentions that some people spend their lives searching for both, while others live without them until they find each other.
Her next guest will be someone who has spent his life looking forward to his own death, which he considers a worthy goal. His search ended years ago, though - he found the other side.
That man is Jake, one of The Funhouse‘s main characters. He doesn’t speak much, but when he does, it’s worth listening to him. You may know him from The Frog Prince or even The Gruffalo, two children’s books by author Julia Donaldson in which he makes several appearances.
Wednesday invites him to join her in the beyond, and you can tell he’s happy there. He spends most of the film smiling, and when he isn’t, he’s thinking only of good things.
After he returns, however, he starts having nightmares about all those missing souls.
She is in her 100s
The voice of Wednesday in the hit show was originally provided by Frank Welker, who voiced her as well as other characters such as Captain Hitchcock and Mr. Mackey. However, when Matt Stone (the creator of South Park) wanted to include his take on young Wednesday in an animated movie he produced, they could not find anyone to play the part.
That’s when they decided to write their own version of what it would be like if someone played this younger version of Addy! And so, they created one!
Their Wednesday is named Chloe Frazer after one of the characters from New York City that gets killed off TV shows at a really early age.
She is still alive
We can prove that she’s not only living, but she’s also actively working! While her early works may be considered clichéd now, they definitely played an important part in shaping modern culture. Even if you have never seen one of her shows before, there are lots of ways to experience her work.
You do not need to watch The Addams Family or even All That Jazz to enjoy her films. Many people love her for other things; like how she influenced fashion and hairstyles. Or how she gave some of the most famous characters in TV show history their names (like Mortimer “Gorton” Cartwright from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air).
