How Safe Is East Hollywood

Addison Smith

With all of the talk about rising crime in Los Angeles, one area has received a lot of attention. That is east Hollywood. Some even refer to it as “Crime City” or "East Highland Avenue."

Many claim that there are too many fast food restaurants with large amounts of foot traffic and late night business. Others say that because there are so many people living close together, there is an overabundance of houses and apartments.

Some say that because there are not very many parks or green spaces, there is nowhere for residents to go for recreation. And some allege that since most locals work in either the entertainment industry or marketing, there is no way to know what goes on outside your own community.

One of the major arguments against this neighborhood being safe is due to its size. Many feel that it is too big to keep up with police protection. This could mean that it takes longer for officers to get here if something does happen.

Overall, there seems to be two opposing theories regarding why people choose to live in east Hollywood. One says that it is safer than other parts of town while the other claims the opposite.

Don’t get into a car with someone you don’t know

If you ever find yourself in east havana, stay outside!

Don’t get into a car with someone you don’t know.

It sounds crazy but it happens every day.

Many people live close to their jobs so they use public transportation as their main form of commute. Unfortunately, some individuals cannot seem to control their alcohol or drug addictions so bad that they need help.

They are unable to avoid getting behind the wheel after drinking or using drugs.

This is very dangerous for them and other commuters because it can potentially hurt or even kill them, others around them, or us (the drivers on the road).

It is important to spread an awareness about this issue by letting people know what trains, buses, and streets are safe during night times, days off, and holidays.

Don’t carry more than the minimum amount of cash

Many people believe that since “East Hollywood” is known for being expensive, it must be safe. Unfortunately, this isn’t always the case!

Many things can cause harm in an area, but not everyone lives there. For example, take the road trip I planned earlier this year. Since I was going to North Carolina, I would probably spend most of my time in either Raleigh or Charlotte so I only needed enough money for food and gas.

I never brought any kind of wallet with me because I don’t like carrying anything heavier than what I have to due to my back issues. Luckily, I didn’t need one once I arrived!

If you do decide to visit East Hollywood, make sure to keep your spending under control as well as your purse size.

Use an app like Uber to get a car

Many people have discussed how safe it is to travel through east Los Angeles, or what some call “East Hollywood”. Some say that it’s totally unsafe, while others claim that it’s very safe.

Some will tell you not to go anywhere alone at night, but we are talking about downtown here - something that should be avoided no matter when you're going or what time of day!

We wanted to give our own tips on how to make sure your safety is guaranteed, so here they are: use an uberX (or Lyft) service to get around.

Uber offers reliable transportation in well-protected vehicles with clearly identifiable drivers. Not only does this protect you from potential crime, but it also gives you the opportunity to review their profiles and pictures before giving them permission to pick you up.

By using these services, you take away one of the main risk factors for being involved in a crime. These cars are monitored constantly, making it more difficult to skip out without being caught.

Get a GPS tracker for your car

With all of these safety measures, one that is sometimes forgotten or ignored is ensuring you have proper transportation to get where you need to go!

Most people are familiar with the term “safe ride home” but few know what this really means. It is not just having someone who knows the city pick you up, it is making sure you don’t run out of money accounts for idle minds.

Making sure you have enough money to pay for food and shelter is an important part of surviving any length of time in unsafe neighborhoods.

There are many ways to manage your finances effectively, so do not worry about wasting money on things like groceries or bills if you ever find yourself in need. Make smart spending habits now, and keep them ready!

GPS trackers for your vehicle are a very effective way to ensure you never lose control of your belongings again.

Meet your friends in a public place and then get a taxi back to your home

As much as some people enjoy hanging out in popular neighborhoods, staying safe can be tricky. The best way to avoid issues is to meet up with your friends outside of their house or location.

If you have to take a cab from somewhere, make sure it has full insurance and that you know who all of the drivers are!

Never pay extra to use a certain driver, these may be illegal practices. Make sure you know what city rules apply for taxis so you don’t accidentally break any laws.

Safer places to hang out include the beach or downtown areas, but beware of late night buses or trains because there may not be many around.

Stay on marked streets

There are several popular neighborhoods in Los Angeles that have experienced an increase in crime due to people traveling through areas for business or entertainment. One of these is east Hollywood, which has become known as “East Hollywood with lots of cops” because of its many police stations and patrols.

While having more police around can be helpful in keeping residents safe, they can also create additional stress on those officers if there are too many calls coming in. This can result in longer shifts for them, and they may even need to take time off work to respond to some things.

It is important to remember that not all crimes occur within a neighborhood’s boundaries, so it is wrong to focus only on protecting one area. It is your responsibility as a pedestrian to use common sense when walking around and staying aware of your surroundings. If you feel unsafe, stay somewhere safer until you no longer do.

Don’t walk alone at night

As tempting as it may be to visit some of the popular neighborhoods in east Los Angeles, staying away from those areas at night is not a good idea.

Many people feel that these neighborhoods are safe because there have been no reports of crime in the area, but this isn’t always the case.

Thieves often roam around looking for their next target so don’t believe that nobody has ever been mugged or carjacked in an area just because you haven’t heard about it.

It's also important to remember that not every police officer lives in your neighborhood, and some may not respond quickly if they do happen to come across something suspicious.

Crime statistics show that violent crimes like robberies, assaults, and murders occur almost exclusively within a half-mile radius of where you live, and most offenders usually get caught.

If you want to enjoy the benefits of living in a beautiful area, then make sure to use common sense when outside and avoid walking alone at night.

Carry your bag close to your body

A lot of people talk about “East Hollywood” as a safe area, but it can be unsafe for non-white people. While there are some lovely houses and apartments in this neighborhood, there is also a disproportionately high amount of police activity happening here.

There have been several instances where white people have reported harassment or assault by police officers in this community. This includes things like being pulled over in an unmarked car with no lights, having your face buried into the windows while someone points guns at you, and being told that your skin color made them feel threatened.

This isn’t just limited to racial minorities either - even if you’re not visibly black, they may still perceive you as such. We have heard stories from friends who were racially profiled in east Hollywood and had their property stolen during the ordeal.
