How To Hollywood Waves
A few years ago, hair wave styles were totally in-the-trend. Now they are almost impossible to find! That is why it is so important to preserve old styles that we love and learn how to do new ones. The easiest way to start doing hairstyles of your own is by learning how to do a hairdo known as a beach wave.
A beach wave is probably one of the most popular hairstyle types out there. It can be done with either wet or dry hairs depending on what look you want for your hair. Many people have made big money off this style!
This article will go into detail about some easy steps to create beautiful beach waves using both regular and heavy use supplies. If you’re already familiar with beach waves then feel free to skip to the next section!
What Is An Easy Wave?
In order to define an easy wave simply refer to the type of wave. An easy wave is typically just one part of a more complicated hairstyling technique such as rolling through a completed roll call or braid.
Use a paddle brush
A large, soft bristle brush is needed to achieve that beautiful, fluffy wave look. The number of waves you get in each pass depends on how many times you use the brush.
The faster you work through your wet hairs with the brush, the fluffier the finished hairstyle will be!
Just make sure to pull the hair as far up away from the scalp as possible when brushing so it doesn’t hurtle back down.
Use a blow dryer and a plastic cap

In order to create that perfect natural looking wave, it is important to have a smooth transition from your hair as it is and then rolling over the edge of the waves.
The first step in creating this look is by using a pre-blowdryer or roll around device to prepare the rest of your hair. This way you can start off with more controlled hair and then layer on the extra bounce and style later.
Next, use a hairdryer and a plastic sandwich baggie to apply some steam! The heat will help loosen up the curls so they will hold longer.
Now, take one section of very wet hair and pull it towards the middle area while keeping about an inch at the roots untouched. As you push the ends through the softening hairs, roll them up and pin them in place.
Use a wide-tooth comb

When using a hairdryer, one of the most important things is how you use your hair brush! There are two main types of brushes: tapered and wider-toothed. A wider-toothed bristle brush works best for hairstyling with waves because you can spread out the hairs more easily.
A wider-toothed comb is better for longer locks as it does not pull too much through the ends. Because they take longer to dry, there are some ways to help them along including using less frequent driers or using a hand held hairdryer instead of a wall mounted machine.
And while we do not recommend pulling your hair up in rollers at this stage as that would cause breakage, rolling your curls up slightly and then pinning it back away from the roll is a helpful way to achieve soft, curly waves.
Use a serum

For those who have very thin hair, doing hairstyles such as waves can be difficult. Using a proper roller-style or gel roll-up technique will help you get that beautiful soft wave!
There are many products available that contain small rolls of glue which when spread onto wet hair create a thicker look than just using water alone. These glues are typically called rollers or gel rollers because of this characteristic.
Many people use fake rollers made out of plastic so they do not have to worry about them breaking down due to exposure to heat or chemicals. People also cannot easily see through these rollers, if for example you like your hairs natural color then it does not matter.
However, there is one thing that may bother some people slightly more than having a clear roller, the smell. Some say it has an almost chemical scent but most people agree that it fades over time.
Use a cream

For those who have very thin hair, professional hairstylists suggest using a product called gel in order to create beautiful waves. The most common gels are roll-up gel or quick fix hairspray/gel that can be rolled through wet hair to achieve soft, glimmering curls or straight looks, respectively!
Some people say that using too much gel may cause your hair to get stuck together, but a small amount is definitely enough for one to enjoy beautifully curled or waved locks. Many brands of gel contain oils to help smooth out the texture, which helps make it more manageable.
By holding onto the curl longer, you will need less heavy gel use to get the same result. Some experts recommend using a bit heavier hand at the start to ensure perfect curls, then taping down the top with a brush as time goes on.
Use a spray

One of the most important things about doing waves is having the right tools for the job! Most people use hairsprays which are not working for you.
Most aerosol sprays contain alcohol as an active ingredient. When sprayed onto wet hair, this alcohol will dry out your strands. This can cause breakage due to dehydration or too much pull.
I have seen many brands advertise their product as “shine”-ing but with all that hype I never see anyone using it to do anything but fluff up your hair. If they did, then it must work really well because that is what it does!
I would recommend avoiding fake hairstyling products at least until you are more experienced. It is better to learn how to do real ones than cheap ones that don’t last.
There are several good natural hairdye sprays available online or in stores. Some examples include coconut oil, avocado oil, jojoba oil, and olive oil.
Use natural hair textures

As mentioned before, hairstylists use different products and techniques depending on what kind of wave they want to create. One of the most important things is determining your natural hair texture and using that for your own style!
Some people have very curly or straight hair so they’re able to apply more heavy hold hairsprays and gels to get their desired shape. Others have long, thick hair which allows them to pour on heavier gel and powder to achieve the same effect.
Use heat

As mentioned before, most people don’t have perfect natural hair so they use luscious amounts of gel or hot rollers to achieve their waves. By using either one, you can easily fake professional looks!
The easiest way to do this is by using warm rollers. A roller that is not too cold will help create smoother curls. If your hand becomes slightly red from the heated plastic, then that’s okay!
Using a cap while rolling your hair helps prevent tangling as well as mess- it also gives you more control over how tight your curl is.
