How To Start Writing A Python Script

Writing a script is an easy task if you know how to write a paragraph! A good way to begin writing your scripts is to start with something simple. Many beginner writers choose to start with stories or essays due to their ease.

Writing a story involves introducing someone, telling them what happens, and then closing out the narrative by concluding. Stories are very common modes of written fiction so this will help you get familiar with writing narratives quickly.

For our purposes here, we will be taking things one step further and defining scripting as any set of actions or statements that can be repeated or extended for use later. This includes programs!

So why not pick up some basic programming using Python? It is a straightforward language that has many resources available online and in-depth documentation. You do not need to have experience writing code before diving into it, but it helps!

Create a development environment

Now that you have found your writing style, it is time to start developing your script! The first step in starting to write code is creating an appropriate development environment for doing so.

You will need somewhere to store all of your scripts and files. This can be done either through using the computer’s internal storage or external hard drives or via online cloud services.

Some examples of this are having Google Drive, Dropbox, Microsoft OneDrive, or Amazon AWS as your scripting platform. All of these have free accounts which allow you to create one personal account and access it from any device.

This is very helpful as you do not have to worry about downloading software onto different computers, as everything is already there! Another good feature of some of these sites is their mobile apps, allowing you to work on your script anywhere that has internet coverage.

Make a plan

Starting with writing your first line of code can be a little tricky at times. Before you start typing, make a plan!

You should have a goal or purpose for your script. What do you want your script to do? If all you wanted to do is check if an item is on a list, there are many ways to achieve this. You could write a long piece of code that checks every element one by one or use the any () function to check if anything is in the list quickly.
