How To Tour Universal Studios Hollywood
With so many things to do at Universal, it can be hard deciding where to start when touring the park! Luckily, there are just as many ways to tour the studio as there are days in the life of this place.
Some people begin by exploring the rides or shows that they already know about, but we will go beyond those here. We will give you all the tips and tricks for how to best take advantage of your visit to the theme park.
Find the theme parks

The best way to enjoy Universal Studios is by doing it as part of a tour or vacation. You can choose to do this at any time, even you are just visiting for one day!
There are many ways to take advantage of all that USH has to offer. Some people like to start in the Backlot area and work their way through to see everything. Others begin with Toon Town and make your way up.
Either way, there’s plenty to see. And if you’re staying in LA or traveling during off-season, some of the rides may be closed (for example, The Simpsons Ride), but other attractions will remain open for fun experiences.
We have organized these tours here so you don’t need to worry about anything! Just pick which one appeals to you most and let yourself be guided along. There are also lots of online resources available to help you plan more in depth trips outside of what we provide here.
Find the attractions

There are several ways to tour Universal Studios! Some of the best ways include taking rides or attending shows, visiting during regular hours is the best way to do this as there are less crowds.
There you can visit The Simpsons Ride, Despicable Me 3 - Breakout!, Super Show Time with Captain America, Men in Black Alien Attack, Horror Make-up Artist Training Center, Race Through New York With Batman, Walking Tours, and The Amazing Spiderman Attraction.
All of these experiences are within easy access via public transportation.
Plan your day

While there’s no hard and fast rule, most people begin touring Universal by taking the bus tour or the tram ride around The City. These are both great ways to get familiar with the park as you hop on and off at different stops.
Each takes about one hour to complete so choose either one for an excellent way to spend your time in the theme park. If you want more of an extended experience, take the Express Pass which gives you entry into some rides, but not all of them.
The best way to see everything is usually via foot trail. Many attractions have separate entrances that do not require pass access, making it easy to skip those if you don’t feel like spending money.
There are also many free things to do at Universal such as watching a show, exploring other areas, etc.
Know your history

The next time you visit Universal, make sure you have done some research before touring. You do not need to know every little detail of the studio, but knowing the basics is helpful for the best experience.
For example, you should know what rides are in which area or how different attractions work. This will help you choose which ones to prioritize while exploring the park!
Also, be aware of any special events taking place at the studio during your stay. These can include movie premieres, TV show tapings, or even festivals such as Comic-Con.
Once again, if you’re looking to save money, avoid visiting during these times unless it is completely necessary. We recommend doing normal business hours (11 a.m.-10 p.m.) around Labor Day - early September is our favorite due to lower prices and better lines.
Eat some treats

While you are not allowed to take food or drinks into any of the rides, there is nothing said about snacks or fruits and vegetables! So, if you need a little pick-me-up before re-entering the theme park, go ahead and grab something for your next meal.
There are many options available at the hotel that can be eaten in or taken outside so users do not have to worry. There are also vendors throughout the park who will sell fresh fruit and veggies as well as snack items.
Alternatively, you can bring your own food or supplies from home. This would be better if you know how much sugar your body processes well. Make sure to research this information before coming so you are not wasting money!
Something important to remember is that even though you are allowed small amounts of foods and beverages, it is best to stay away from junk food. You want to give your blood glucose (sugar) levels time to normalize instead of having a quick drop then a slow climb back up. Avoid junk food and packaged sweets to ensure your blood sugar stays stable.
Library staff members cannot help but notice all of the books people are taking with them. Most are spending their trip reading, which is great to see! If you decide to join the crowd, try to choose between one of our favorite movie franchises or read an easy book like Gone With The Wind to make yourself feel more relaxed.
Dress the part

While there are no rules about how to dress for touring, we recommend being budget friendly is not a good idea unless you want to look very expensive. You do not have to spend a large amount of money, but looking fashionable is important since you will be seen many times by other people!
Just because something cost less does not mean it is not stylish or elegant. If you can find similar products that fit your budget, then go ahead and buy them!
Something simple and pretty is always best when traveling. We suggest staying in neutral colors such as white, black, gray, and cream. Add some classic accessories like jewelry (jewelry is one of the biggest expenses while traveling) and a nice fluffy coat or jacket if needed.
Use the time wisely

While there are several ways to tour Universal, one of the best is to take advantage of the park’s attractions and experiences. Some examples include riding The Simpsons Ride or Transformers: Rise of the Fallen in Adventure Mode, experiencing Diagon Alley through Ollie’s Emporium, taking part in any thrill rides like Flight of the Hippo at Islands of America, and exploring New York City via taxi during G-The Experience.
All of these can be done within an hour depending on how long you spend outside waiting for rides or traveling by bus or monorail. If you have only one day at Universal, make sure to prioritize spending your time efficiently so that you don’t waste much time before leaving!
You won’t want to rush through too many things because you’ll miss out on more fun experiences later, but you also shouldn’t spend too much time at each attraction either. Because there are so many different options at this theme park, some may feel overpriced unless you really enjoy them.
See everything

While touring Universal Studios, you’ll want to make sure you see all of the attractions. Some are free, while others cost money depending on how many tickets you have!
The most well-known attractions at Universal Studios include The Simpsons Ride, Spiderman Experience, Transformers 3 4D Experience, Revenge of the Mummy, King Kong 360 3D, Men in Black Alien Attack, Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, Fast & Furious - Supercharged!, Shrek 4D, Jimmy Kimmel Live! And now Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey!
There is so much more than what meets the eye here! Many people do not realize there are actually two different theme parks within this one site. One is called Islands of Adventure which includes Seuss Landing (Get ready for fun characters!), Captain America Battle Arena, Jurassic Park River Oasis, Beetlejuice Graveyard Revue, Madagascar Escape, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Voyage of the Little Mermaid, Flight of the Hippo, and Soarin’ Over California.
This section also features Grizzly Island Expedition, Dinosaur Attractions, Marvel Super Heroics, Wet and Wild, Monster Mania, Epic Discovery, Comedy Warehouse, Creature Comforts, Thrillville USA, and Movie Making. All of these experiences are totally interactive and beyond cool!
Another part of the park that gets overlooked is Volcano Bay.
