How To Train Your Dragon - The Best Animated Film

Addison Smith

Let’s talk about how to train your dragon! In this article, we will be talking about one of my favorite animated films, HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON 2. This movie is very educational in not only how to teach dragons to obey you, but also how to help yourself before an important event.

The first section of the film focuses on Opo (the name of the main character) learning his place as the new Alpha male. He faces many challenges along the way that test his leadership skills, but he always comes out on top.

He learns this by observing and listening to those around him. By paying close attention to every detail, he is able to figure out what needs to be done next.

This article will go more into depth about how Opo trained himself to learn how to train his own dragon. It will include tips and tricks from the movie.

Animation style

When it comes down to it, how much you appreciate an animated film depends mostly on their animation style. There are many different styles that filmmakers use in animating characters and settings, and people have strong opinions about which is better than others.

The most popular types of animation are drawn-based (also referred to as hand-drawn or traditional), computer generated imagery (CGI) and photo-realism (or realistic looking). All three can be seen in Theodor Geisel’s How To Train Your Dragon!

Drawing-style animations are pretty straightforward. Characters typically look more rounded and natural due to the drawing tools used to create them. Settings also appear very crisp and clear since there aren’t any computers generating those.

Photo-Realistic movies seem almost completely real with only small tweaks here and there. This usually includes things like using actual light sources, incorporating grayscale into the movie and sometimes even replacing CGI elements with physical ones.

A lot of fans compare Photo Realism films to watching a documentary because they feel it is just as authentic. It may not be for everyone though as some find it too dry.

Artistic direction

While some may consider it a gimmick, artistic style is an integral part of how well you portray your characters. People use art as a way to express themselves, so why not apply that to film?

As mentioned before, personality is one of the most important things in storytelling. A strong narrative depends heavily on your audience being able to connect with the characters.

Artistic styles play a major role in this by defining who these characters are. If their hairstyle or wardrobe says something about them then we can assume they’re someone we know or at least have seen like Tony from The Office!

The thing about artistic styles though is that they evolve over time. Take Leonardo da Vinci for example - his style was totally different two decades later when he painted Mona Lisa!

People often say that artists look outside themselves for inspiration, which is definitely true but it goes beyond that. By exploring other cultures, philosophies and disciplines, artist develop unique ways of looking at life and the world. This applies to filmmakers too.

Voice acting

Another integral part of the film that has been discussed at length is voice acting. You may have noticed some significant voices in the movie, or even ones you overlooked! That’s because many characters in The Dragonslayer are voiced by an actual actor.

Actress Raven Lord (voiced by Jennifer Carpenter) portrayed Hiccup as a young daredevil who loves taking risks. His best friend and constant companion was his dragon Toothbrush. As he grew up, though, he learned how to be more thoughtful and careful with life.

British actress Claudia Baelish (played by Jemima Kirke) took on the role of Stoick the Vast - the leader of the tribe. She embodied this strong, powerful individual beautifully.

Actor John DiMaggio gave one of our favorite scenes in the movie: when Hiccup and Toothbrush take off into the sky after escaping from Berk. He delivered his lines with such intensity that it felt like we were right along with them.

Visual effects

A lot of people praise how beautiful The Hunger Games is, but if you take away all the fancy decorations and special effects, it would be hard to tell that there are dragons in the movie. That’s because most of the scenes were actually filmed with CGI!

Dragons do not exist in real life, so filmmakers have to create them through computer programs. There are several types of software used for this, such as Adobe Photoshop or Maya.

The artists start off with a basic shape for the dragon and then they add details (such as scales) and textures (like fur). Then, they blend these shapes together into one cohesive image using advanced tools.

These tools make it possible to combine different layers together to achieve the desired look. For example, you could put a layer under another layer to reduce the brightness or color. You can also move a part of the picture up or down to change the perspective.
