Most people know about YouTubers like Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, and PewDiePie, but there are actually quite a few others out there who make small amounts of money while contenting creative, fun videos.
Many of them create very entertaining content by drawing inspiration from things around them or events in their own lives.
Some focus more heavily on educational content, trying to teach viewers something new or inspire them to learn something new. Others create comedy videos or other types of entertainment content. It all depends on what they want to see themselves doing next!
There are many ways to make an income as a YouTuber, so it is not only possible, but likely that you will find at least one method that works for you.
First YouTube video
Many people know about the website called YouTube, but not too many know what kind of videos it had at one time. Some may also know that its current form is more focused on entertainment content, like music or comedy videos. But there was a time when YouTube was much different- almost entirely community oriented.
In November 2005, Ted (later popularly known as Ethan) Hughes uploaded his first ever video to the site. It was for an event he organized with some friends- a Christmas gift exchange party. He invited all of their friends to join in and contribute a gift they wanted to receive, then everyone gathered together and exchanged gifts.
His guests loved the concept so much that other individuals asked him if he would make another one just for them! Thus, in December of the same year, he created another gift exchange party, this time just for yourself. Many people know of, or have at least heard of YouTubers like PewDiePie or Jake Paul, but what many don’t realize is that someof our most beloved internet stars are actually very young.
Before there was even an official channel for someone to watch their videos, there were individuals who uploaded their own videos onto sites such as Myspace, Vimeo, and now, you can create your own YouTube channel!
But while not every one became famous through YouTube, these influencers did - and they made a big impression. Let us look at three important early YouTube videos and why they matter today.

The birth of memes
One of the most important developments in media is the meme. A meme is anything that people share with each other, either through pictures or videos or both. They are characterized by their humorous content and ability to spread rapidly.
A famous example of this is the “I’m sorry I’ve got no underwear” picture. This was shared online around 2010 and has gone viral many times since then!
Another well-known example is when Barack Obama said he would be too busy campaigning if he were running for president in 2016. People took his word as fact and made their own conclusions about what they thought he meant. Some even concluded (wrongly) that he wanted to run for office as a presidential candidate.
This type of sharing is called spreading a concept or idea. It is similar to how students will quickly repeat something they have been taught in school so that others can understand it. Only here, everyone else gets credit for doing the same thing and giving the idea more exposure.
With the internet being a place where almost anyone can create an account, you could say that these ideas spread via social proof. As more people agree that this idea is true, then it becomes accepted as such.

The beginning of YouTube stars
Before there was an online platform where you could create your own channel with videos, people created YouTubers by doing something else. They marketed themselves as someone who makes interesting or funny videos, so they started creating them and publishing them on their website to get more views.
Some of these individuals became very popular and now have their own channel with lots of followers!
It is also important to note that before Instagram, most people used Facebook for sharing pictures and things like that. Some people made their own page on Facebook and uploaded videos instead! These artists are making money because they designed and produced their content, but once it goes viral, it helps them gain exposure and recognition.

Starting with just 160 MB of bandwidth, back in 2005 when YOLO was still a thing, YouTube has grown into an incredible media platform for you to enjoy.
It’s now one of the biggest entertainment hubs in the world, offering billions of videos spanning all genres and categories. It also boasts over 1 billion monthly active users, making it one of the most popular websites on the planet!

The start of the internet
