There’s a reason for this perception. Beyond requiring an advanced understanding of optics and physics, working as a professional cinematographer demands having solid drawing skills, knowledge of light sources, color theory, and Photoshop (or similar graphics editing software).

It’t not to say that all professionals in this field aren’t trained in these areas, but it does take more than just knowing what things mean.

Luckily, you don’t need any kind of formal training aside from your own creativity to pull off great shots! That being said, here are 10 reasons why learning how to shoot movies could be a good career choice.

Shooting on film
