As we mentioned earlier, The Division does not have an official release date yet, but it is expected to arrive sometime this spring (Q1 2017). Since there are no final launch dates, people have been comparing The Division to another game with heavy comparisons-the multiplayer shooter that was most popularly known as Call Of Duty!
That other video game has its own fan base so let’s take a look at some of the similarities between The Division and Los Santos, the town in which you play as Agent Joshua Davis in Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. These similarities will include characters, settings, and overall feel-style.
There are several reasons why these parallels exist including direct references, theme, and timing. This article will focus mostly on the last one-timing.
The reason why The Division feels like a modern day retelling of the same story over and over again is because developer Ubisoft wanted players to make connections to their past games. They even go as far as having character models and outfits pay homage to things from previous titles.

There are also no highways in The Crew, making it difficult for some people to escape if they get into an argument or brawl with another crew member.
The most noticeable difference comes when you look at the map. While the game gives its users a very detailed view, none of the neighborhoods match up with ones in America or France. This includes landmarks such as Disney World, Eiffel Tower, or Notre Dame!
These omissions were probably done so that players would need to use their imagination to add detail, but it was still disappointing for fans who wanted more realism.
There are similarities between the two cities
The city is built on three major rivers that run through it, making for an abundant amount of water sources. Both have beautiful natural landscapes and environments to explore.
Los Santos has its own beauty in various areas such as the mountains and beachfronts. Just like with San Francisco, you will find yourself spending lots of time looking at the scenery.
Both San Francisco and Los Santos feature top-notch hospitals and medical facilities. You’ll spend very little time without access to one. This makes them popular destinations for tourists and residents alike.
There are some important differences though. For example, while there are many high income people in both places, San Francisco is more focused on rich versus middle class, whereas in Los Santos it’s the other way around.
Some of the similarities
The way that you navigate the city is very similar to how you would in the real LA! You have your familiar streets, like Main Street, Hollywood Boulevard, or Sunset Boulevard, that anyone who has lived here for any amount of time knows well.
But then there are some which seem almost identical to ones that exist nowhere else but L.A., such as Fountain Avenue or Rosewood Drive. These are new additions to the game, so they may be confusing at first, but after you get used to them they feel natural.
Another thing about Los Santos is its diversity. There are many areas within the map that go from something serene and calm, to high energy and busy. This brings an element of variety to the experience, giving people different things to focus on depending on their mood.
There’s also an emphasis on community spirit. People talk to each other, help out neighbors, and work together towards achieving goals. It’s really quite inspiring when you think about it.
The culture

In video games however, one district usually stands out as being better than all others. This isn’t due to poor design, but rather because people who live in those areas talk about them more often. As such, most gamers end up spending a lot of time in that area.
This doesn’t always make for good reading, especially if you are looking for action-packed stories. Sometimes you just want to sit down and play something uninterrupted. Luckily, Rockstar has you covered with the second type of game they make.
They are called narrative focused games and they are typically categorized as Action Adventure Games (like Uncharted) or Role Playing Games (like Grand Theft Auto).
The way the citizens live
In the game, you are usually assigned to work for either the police or the mob. Your job is to take down organized crime by investigating crimes and finding their masterminds.
Just like in real life, people in the game use pay-to-play systems to gain access to good areas.
They will spend money to improve their experience with the game, such as buying better weapons or cars. Or they may invest more heavily in things like racetracks or gambling facilities so that they can have more fun!
There’s also an item exchange system where players can trade resources and upgrades for other items.

This isn’t always the case though as we also see less about living your life through violence and hatred. Instead, we get more inspiring stories such as where professional athletes work normal jobs or ones about how someone overcame a lot of obstacles to achieve their dreams.
Overall, the game uses inspiration from various sources to create an environment that feels authentic. It is very easy to tell if something is fake by looking at all the components and whether they match up with real world examples.
