Logothetis Rolls Cameras for 'Kickboxer: Armageddon' and 'Flying Shadow'

Veteran action director Dimitri Logothetis, known for his work on 'Jiu Jitsu' and 'Kickboxer: Retaliation', is preparing to helm two exciting features, 'Kickboxer: Armageddon' and 'Flying Shadow'. Production for both films will take place in Mississippi and Malta.

'Kickboxer: Armageddon' is envisioned as the final entry in a reboot trilogy based on the original Kickboxer franchise, a series that shot to prominence with Jean-Claude Van Damme in the lead. Logothetis’ reimagined trilogy stars Alain Moussi in the role of Kurt Sloane. The story of 'Armageddon' hurls Sloane into turmoil when a fatal explosion kills his family, setting off a vengeance-fueled manhunt that drags him into Malaysia's underground fight scene.

Logothetis co-wrote the script for 'Armageddon' with Jim McGrath, the same duo behind the original reboot. Also returning to the production team are Joel Shapiro and Rob Hickman.

The other film, 'Flying Shadow', is an action thriller about the efforts of ex-military Black Ops agent Travis Rawls and Ling, commander of a Chinese private security force, as they scramble to prevent a catastrophe following the theft of the legendary sword, 'Flying Shadow', with the President’s life in immediate danger. Logothetis and McGrath were also the scribes for this adrenaline-charged screenplay.

Logothetis gained fame for his contributions to indie martial arts films and injected fresh vigor into the 'Kickboxer' franchise as both co-writer and producer. Other notable works include the sci-fi thriller 'Jiu Jitsu', featuring Nicolas Cage, and 'Gunner', which stars Morgan Freeman and Luke Hemsworth. Logothetis also heads the companies Acme Rocket Fuel and Kings Road Entertainment.

Logothetis and Moussi are represented by Peter Meyer Management and The Characters Talent Agency and Paul Hastings, respectively.

Now, putting on my Hollywood Dynamics hat, I would say that the curtain is rising on what promises to be an adrenaline-infused feast at the shores of Malta and Mississippi. With the Kickboxer reboot already kicking butt in the action genre, fans will be hankering to see how Logothetis wraps up this illustrious trilogy with 'Armageddon'.

While we're at it, let's not overlook the veritable action buffet that 'Flying Shadow' poses to be. It goes to show that Logothetis certainly knows 'the art of fighting without fighting', weaving together narratives that don’t just sucker punch their audience, but also offer quality entertainment that leaves a lasting impact.

And speaking of impact, who can forget the whirlwind of martial arts mastery that Logothetis swept us up in with the 'Kickboxer' reboots? But we're not here to dwell in the past; all eyes are trained on what could be an explosive conclusion to the trilogy. If there's one thing about working in Hollywood, it's that no two days are the same and the only predictable thing about showbiz is its unpredictability. And yet, I’d wager good money that 'Armageddon' is going to be a knockout.

While everyone is busy flipping their year-end calendars and making resolutions for the shiny new year, Logothetis will be busy sparking fires on set, ready to serve up the freshest flicks of 2023. Emmy Wilde said it best: "The best way to predict the future is to create it," and that's exactly what Dimitri Logothetis appears to be doing. The stage is set for an exceptional year in film, courtesy of this quintessential action auteur. Here's looking forward to an action-packed year indeed!
