Paramount+ has revealed the first glimpse and premiere date for its much-anticipated horror movie Pet Sematary: Bloodlines, a prequel to Stephen King's renowned creation, Pet Sematary. The premiere, scheduled for October 6, will mark the directorial debut of screenwriter Lindsey Beer. Based on an obscure chapter from King's repertoire, the story is often referred to by the master of horror himself as his most petrifying work.

The plot revolves around a young Jud Crandall in 1969, harboring dreams of escaping his small town. However, he stumbles upon ominous secrets lurking in the shadows of his hometown and is forced to confront a grim ancestral narrative that permanently binds him to the town. Along with his childhood friends, Jud has to battle with an age-old malevolence that has ensnared Ludlow since its inception and threatens to obliterate everything in its wake once revealed.

The film's star-studded cast includes Jackson White from Tell Me Lies, Forrest Goodluck known for The Revenant, Mare of Easttown’s Jack Mulhern, and Henry Thomas from The Fall of the House of Usher, to name a few. Other notable mentions in the cast include Natalie Alyn Lind from The Goldbergs, Isabella Star LaBlanc of True Detective: Night Country, and veterans Pam Grier and David Duchovny. Lindsey Beer also co-wrote the screenplay with Jeff Buhler. The Paramount+ original movie, a Di Bonaventura Pictures Production, is presented in collaboration with Paramount Pictures' Players Label and is grounded in King’s novel, Pet Sematary.

Adding to the pre-Halloween extravaganza, Pet Sematary will be featured in Paramount+'s Peak Screaming collection, a curated assortment of horror movies and Halloween-themed TV episodes. It is set to release on October 6 in the U.S., Canada, Latin America, and Brazil and subsequently in other international territories the next day.

Now, onto the good stuff. True, Stephen King fans might be a bit apprehensive about another crack at Pet Sematary - who needs another eerie journey among the headstones, right? But trust King to introduce us to a hitherto unknown chapter in his demon-haunted world, cleverly wrapped in Bloodlines.

Where the fun begins is with our dear Jud Crandall, a rather familiar face for King’s fans. This time, he’s younger, more naive and ready to take on a force of great evil, all in the spirit of good old 1969. Fingers crossed that his dreams of abandoning his roots don't end up being crushed by a haunted burial ground. Cue shivers!

And did I mention the star-studded cast? From Jackson White to Forrest Goodluck, we’re in for a treat. Of course, the rapport between Goodluck and King fans might contribute to a potentially 'good luck' charm for the movie. Also, hats off to Pam Grier and David Duchovny for donning those mysterious caps; add a pinch of Beer's creativity, and we're stirring a potent Halloween cocktail!

All in all, in true Stephen King fashion, we’re heading for a chilling fall season, filled with enigmatic secrets, ancestral curses, and town-wide terror. So buckle your seatbelts, horror fanatics - we’re in for a white-knuckle thrill ride this October, and Pet Sematary: Bloodlines promises a depart from the typical Hollywood horror fare. At the very least, it's sure to provide an eerie evening or two fit for the spooky season.
