The Morning Show Cinematography

Addison Smith

As we mentioned before, the show that makes it special is in the way of filming and editing. A key part of this is having an appropriate camera position for each shot. There are several types of cameras you can use to achieve this!

In this article, we will discuss three different types of cameras used for morning shows and their importance to your production.

We will also talk about some examples using these cameras as well as how to use them in your own videos!

Keep reading to learn more about them!

The first type of camera we will look at is something many people include in their morning show cinematography- the tripod.

These work great because they keep the camera still, which allows for smooth moving around of the subject or fluid cutaways from one scene to another.

This is important since most of us do not have professional grade equipment so being able to capture beautiful footage with ours is a goal of everyone’s.

Also, if the person being interviewed moves or talks faster than expected, there is less chance of bad interviews due to missing chunks of content because the speed changed.

Who is on the show?

This week’s episode was all about cinematography! We visited two different sets where we got to see some beautiful shots. One took place at an outdoor pool, and the other took place in a studio.

We also talked about why it’s so important for the director to be in control of the camera. Plus, we discussed some cool handheld techniques that you can use when filming your own scenes or others that are more advanced.

Making sure that the people around you are having fun while you film will go a long way in creating natural dialog.

What are they filming?

As mentioned earlier, The Morning Show features begin with someone in their home or workplace greeting the audience and setting the tone for the show. They may discuss any number of things including what city they’re from, why they’re not working at this time, etc.

Then, they pull out a camera and start shooting some sort of scene set in their bedroom or kitchen. It could be recording yourself having breakfast, taking pictures before you leave to work, or even just exploring your own house as a place to hang out and relax.

The more intimate the settings, the better! More likely than not, people who watch The Morning Show have connected socially with Gretchen and she has inspired them to do similar lifestyle changes by motivating them to follow her health tips and/or provide motivation and inspiration.

Her followers love her so much that they want to give back to her by bringing into the broadcast space something she loves- cinematography. That’s why there are so many creative shots being used during her light-check ahead segment where she talks about how light can influence her mood.

Who is the host?

As mentioned before, the hosting position for a show can make a difference in how well it does. For The Morning Show, the main host is me, Brianna. I would say that my role as a producer has changed over time, but my job remains the same - to keep the crew motivated, inspired, and working together effectively!

My career began with cinematography, so I’ve got some tips from the ground up. When I first started shooting TV shows, there were very few women involved in this field. It was mostly men!

But today things are changing quickly. There are many great opportunities available to aspiring filmers who are passionate about what they do. Finding a community of people who share your passion is an excellent way to get more involved in the movie making process.

Here at The Morning Show we have a strong camera team made up of both experienced professionals and novice filmmakers. We welcome everyone to contribute and be part of our creative process.

Making movies is a teamwork effort, so don’t feel like you need to wait for someone else to take charge. Take initiative and do something productive - even if it’s just grabbing some coffee or going out for a quick lunch while the rest of the team stays inside.

What is the theme?

As mentioned earlier, the main them of most show cinematographers is to create an atmosphere or feeling for your viewer. Yours are trying to get people in front of their televisions to enjoy watching TV, so they need to feel relaxed and comfortable.

They also use light and color to convey moods, setting up scenes and emphasizing things happening in the scene. A lot of time this includes using lights and/or flashes to capture certain moments more clearly.

The other major part comes down to editing. Producers and directors usually give the DP a list of shots they’d like to include in a particular sequence, and his or her job is to find way to incorporate those into the movie while still keeping the flow of the story moving forward.

That said, there are some very popular styles that every aspiring cg picks up quickly! Here we will discuss the three biggest ones.

What time is it set?

As mentioned before, one of the biggest factors in viewer engagement with The Morning Show is its setting. The show is filmed at a studio location outside of Chicago so that viewers can easily identify with the beauty and creativity of the city.

The show uses a lot of natural light during filming so that additional lighting equipment is not needed to film the scenes. This helps keep production costs down as well as reducing environmental impact due to less energy usage.

In addition to these reasons, the surrounding area where the show films is beautiful and full of character. Many people enjoy coming out to watch the show because they like the look of the neighborhood or want to take a stroll through the park next door!

These qualities help create an immersive experience for the audience member which makes them feel more connected to the show. A large part of this comes from knowing and engaging with the crew members who work on the show.

Who are some guests?

As mentioned before, having someone wake up next to you is one of the best ways to enjoy morning sex. Yours can be your significant other, friend, or even family member!

Having an outside person sleep in is another way to do it. You will have to work around their schedule, but this can be very romantic if done correctly.

Another option is for one partner to stay awake during sex. They can hold each other close while they both feel relaxed and loved. This works well when people need more sleep than normal, or if one person needs just a little extra rest.

And lastly, some people love being photographed while they sleep. It is a beautiful expression that reminds us all how important we are as humans.

We spend our lives trying to show the world who we are, and ourselves what makes us happy.

What are they talking about?

As mentioned before, the show must have a narrative to it! This is what people will be listening for when you film a TV show. A good cinematographer should always look into that first.

A lot of times, as filmmakers we take creative liberties with our stories and settings. We add in lots of flashy lighting, cool camera moves, and lush production values to make the scene more interesting. These things can really distract from how well the story is telling itself though.

This is why having a clear understanding of the genre of your show is so important. If someone wanted to see an action movie, then looking very fancy would not appeal to them. If someone wanted to watch a drama, then adding too many effects may throw off the mood or storyline.

Having a clear narrative allows viewers to focus just on the messages and characters being conveyed, which is what great storytelling is all about.

Does it get good ratings?

As mentioned before, the main reason that show cinematographers are so well paid is because of their production team members they work with. These crew members will hire them as a second shooter or DIT (digital imaging technician), which can be more valuable than being hired as a camera operator!

As a DP, you will typically have at least one gaffer (lighting professional) and one key grip working for you. A gaffer will usually handle all of the light sources, while a key grip handles most of the gear in the studio or location where a scene takes place.

These two professionals collaborate to make sure your film has adequate lighting for filming and later color correcting processes. They also make sure everything looks its best by choosing appropriate lights and lenses.

If these two aren’t enough, there may be another member of the production staff who knows about photography and helping you achieve your vision.
