Finding new entertainment is easy these days, but there’s one resource that seems to be disappearing ever so slightly - YouTube.

With over 2 billion monthly active users, it’s increasingly difficult to find someone who doesn’t know at least some part of the platform. It’s also tough to come up with reasons why you should add another channel to your watch list.

But I’m going to give you three right here and now - my reason for bringing this attention to you is as a content creator myself, I feel like YouTube has become too focused on catering to advertisers instead of viewers.

As a viewer, I feel like the experience is getting worse not better and that needs to change if people are going to keep using the app. So let me tell you about the things I think are hurting the community at large and what I will do to help fix them.

There are so many ways to enjoy YouTube entertainment these days! You can browse through your favorite channels, search for specific videos or clips, or create your own channel by choosing a genre and creating a playlist.

Making your own channel is an excellent way to start exploring other genres and styles of video making. Your followers will be able to easily access your creations via their device or browser, and you’ll get exposure in the form of the channel listing and player across all of YouTube.

Become a subscriber to channels you find interesting

There are millions of YouTubers who have made it their career by entertaining and educating others through their creative content. Their subscribers help them keep advertising dollars by subscribing to their channel, thus ensuring that they will get paid for creating entertainment content!

The best way to start finding new YouTube content is to become a subscribed channel. This not only gives you direct access to helpful videos, but also other resources like playlists, blogs, and more.

Watch videos until you can comment or critique

This is one of the most important things to do as an aspiring entertainment professional. YouTube has great tools for you to use to hone your skills, connect with others in the industry, and create new content or messages!

The way to get into it is by creating and producing entertaining videos. People watch these videos to learn or be inspired by how other people make entertaining content so why not try your hand at it?

There are many ways to start making fun or serious videos. You can pick any genre or area of media that you enjoy and develop your skill set there before moving onto another part of your career.

For example, if you like acting then starting with a comedy channel may be more appropriate than trying to figure out which side of the camera to focus on first!

To give yourself some time to grow, don’t upload a video every day but once a week or even longer if you need to take your time and assess whether this is something you want to pursue.

Comment and critique more

As mentioned earlier, your channel will not get any significant exposure without comments and critiques. These can be done in several ways. You can make use of the comment tool next to every video you upload. This way people can leave messages directly underneath your videos.

You can also create an account at YouTube and then add the form as a free feature. Or you can choose to pay for it as another user has suggested. Make sure to update your profile so that anyone can contact you!

Your followers may already know what they like about your content or maybe they have some tips for other types of videos you could produce. Either way, reward their effort by reading replies to see if there are any helpful notes.

But remember, no matter who leaves which message, never respond with offensive or hateful remarks. Doing so only adds negative attention to yourself and your brand.

Record and edit videos

A very popular way to start creating your YouTube channel is by recording yourself entertaining or educating people on a topic. By doing this, you create your own video stream that others can watch!

To begin, you should ensure that your camera has good quality lenses. Most smart phones have decent enough cameras so look no further than those for inspiration.

Next, find an area with adequate light for filming. This could be outside or even in your house if you are comfortable having the rest of the world see what you’re working on.

After that, pick something you are passionate about and have some knowledge about. If you enjoy baking then make a recipe or experiment with different recipes. If you like reading then read a book or review it.

Whatever you choose to film, stay focused and keep an eye out for interesting things.

After creating an account, you will need to decide what kind of content you want to create. You can choose whether it is a movie or a TV show, anything genre-based like comedy, drama, etc., or something more specific like cooking, fashion, business, etc.

Once you have chosen your medium, you will then need to pick a camera to film with. There are many types of cameras to use depending on your filming style such as drag drop, tripod, handheld.

You will also need to find a location for your video either at your own home or through paid locations/vouchers.

After finding a suitable location and buying enough supplies for your video, the next step is editing!

Youtube offers several free software that can be used to edit your videos including Adobe Photoshop, Premiere, and even Google’s own product called ‘YouTube Studio’. These programs can all help in producing quality footage and editing different styles of videos.

There are plenty of ways to get inspiration from other people’s videos to produce your own. By adding yourself into various social media groups, you will be able to view lots of videos which could give you some ideas or tips.

Gain recognition

As we all know, YouTube is a pretty popular platform. With it being such a versatile tool for anyone to use, people have been creating content on it for years! If you want your audience to recognize you, they must create something creative and meaningful.

Running a video business or channel on YouTube is an excellent way to gain some inspiration. There are so many ways to make money online these days, why not try making videos and selling them?

Your followers can purchase products from you by clicking on links in the description of your videos. This is a great way to earn extra income while using the internet as a means to market yourself.

Another way to make money with YouTube is through advertising. Companies pay to place advertisements next to or within your videos to promote their product or service.
