Zima, Nam Teaming Up for Thrilling New 'Love Is the Monster' Film
Madeline Zima, best known for her role in "Californication," and Leonardo Nam, famed for "Westworld," are presently on set in Canada for the thrilling new production, "Love Is the Monster." Filmmaker Alex Noyer, fresh off his latest work, "Sound of Violence," is directing this unique feature. A range of stars joining the ensemble cast includes Moe Jeudy-Lamour of "Ted Lasso," Kimberly-Sue Murray from "Trader," Kristina Tonteri-Young of "Warrior Nun," Milla Puolakanaho ("Omerta"), Tatu Sinisalo ("Sisu"), and Sheila Mccarthy from "Women Talking."
"Love Is the Monster" is a sophisticated narrative by Noyer, Hannu Aukia, and Blair Bathory centering around Ana, played by Zima, and Justin, played by Nam, a couple grappling with unfaithfulness. This duo finds themselves attending an elite couple's retreat in Finland, soaking up the ethereal luminescence of a summer's midnight sun. Joined by a medley of couples from different corners of the globe, they succumb to the transformative teachings of a shaman and healer called Tiina, a character modeled after Lempo, the ancient Finnish goddess of love and fertility. Regardless, the tranquility of the setting doesn’t last long, promising viewers a turn of intriguing events.
Noyer, dipping his creative brush into the mythological palette of his homeland, Finland, curates this unique narrative as his second feature after "Sound of Violence." The latter, a horror-thriller starring Jasmin Savoy Brown from "Yellowjackets," debuted at SXSW in 2021. Noyer collaborates on the project with producers Laurence Gendron and Hannu Aukia. The reputable XYZ Films, which holds North American rights to the movie, is expected to catalyze sales at TIFF, alongside premiering Atom Egoyan's "Seven Veils" starring Amanda Seyfried.
Zima, who seemed to marvel audiences with her performance alongside David Duchovny on Showtime's "Californication," has had her plate full with various roles in "Doom Patrol," "Hacks," and "In Treatment." Her next project, a sci-fi thriller named "Subservience" in which she stars with Megan Fox, is eagerly anticipated.
Nam's filmography, including his appearance as park employee Felix Lutz on HBO’s "Westworld," his part in Marvel’s "Werewolf by Night," and his upcoming role in Ava DuVernay’s "Origin" scheduled to be unveiled in Venice next month, stands as a testament to his remarkable versatility.
Zima and Nam are represented by Affirmative Entertainment, Buchwald, Ziffren Brittenham, More/Medavoy Management, A3 Artists Agency, and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman respectively.

Now, kiddos, let's pull up a chair and talk shop. See, "Love Is the Monster" is already shaping up to be a fascinating brew of myth, love, betrayal, and therapy taken a touch too far. And I mean, nothing says drama like unraveling relationships under the endless Nordic sun, right?
First, we have the creative powerhouse, Noyer, whose recent dip in the horror-thriller pond did him and his career a world of good. He's grabbing this industry beast by the horns with a tale rooted in Finnish folklore - a stroke of genius, if you ask me. Hopefully, this dash of mythology delivers the same crackerjack effect as his "Sound of Violence."
Zima and Nam - what a pair! Grounded in their respective stars' roles - one, vibrant, edgy, and always surprising; the other, steadfast, versatile, and chameleonic - this intriguing duo is going to bring sheer chaos to the serene Finnish setting.
Innovation is a must in Hollywood, and injecting this shaman-healer character could be just the ticket. Teaming couples from different parts of the world - now that's a melting pot of love, loyalty, and secrets we can't wait to taste.
"Love Is the Monster" seems to be that juicy apple falling not far from the Noyer tree, and we're here for it. After all, who doesn't love a little monster mash under the midsummer sun?
