Let's Explore: How Art Spreads Awareness

Here at Hollywood Dynamics, we are passionate about art's role in society.
In this edition of 'Let's Explore', we are going to focus on how art spreads awareness and what that can teach us living in the modern world.
We create art, and that art influences us

In years gone by, it was easy to see art as a passive spectator. People saw a painting on a wall, perhaps even loved it and would wonder who painted it.
The works of art have faded away, and people are confronted with a 'public' that dominates and humiliates.
As art becomes influential, it no longer hides in the background
This passive view has been proven to be wrong. As we delve into the art world, we see that art is no longer 'invisible' to its participants. Those with vision see the background behind the surface. Some can sense the gesture of the artist, and the expression of their hand as they create the work.
On the other side, the public will look on, amazed at the special ability of the artist to combine beauty and chaos. There is communication happening every day, and the art world is an outlet for that communication. Artworks open us up to a new world.
We have a different perspective and a different thought process while viewing the artwork. The artworld is more than a gilded glitzy hall, it is an arena of combat. The way the artist creates the work changes everything.
Art galleries give art space to breath

Some people criticize an art exhibition because it's not 'real'. They judge the work as to whether or not it holds up against the scrutiny of an audience. The ratio of realism to confusion varies from piece to piece. Despite the more sophisticated ones being judged more 'real', the best of art actually stands up to judgment.
The people who actually put the artwork on display, have a much harder time arguing against it. They will change their mind because they want to agree, or simply because they love the artwork. If you compare a young boy painting with a grown man, you will notice the difference.
Many artists take the physical form of human beings but do not conform to the restrictions of a hierarchy. They express emotion with an unusual style and what is seen at the exhibition is the human on the canvas. How art shapes your perception
The general public perceives art differently from the artists themselves.
I am sure most of you are aware of the way technology works. When you watch television, you can tell that the characters have been modeled in a certain way. But this is not the same as seeing what the artist actually did in the exact same way.
While the producers make sure that the outcome is the same, those outside the studio can be influenced by how the people in the studio portrayed what happened. For example, the of mics, the angles, the sound, and the focus can all affect how a person sees the work.
Art in the modern world
The popular perception of a fictional character is based on an idea of the original artist, but the actual artist can alter the perception of a fictional character due to the influences of the public.
Take Tim Burton's film of the 'Alice in Wonderland' series. What people see in this movie is not actually from the drawing. The drawing is based on a circus scene, but not the dance scene.
What Alice sees is real to her and a different story. The people in the studio see a cartoon, but they are free to interpret the world they are creating to their liking.
If you were to watch the same performance from a different angle, people could think that it is a movie that has been hand-drawn. It has been altered, but that is not the same. The people watching the scene see a world different from the artist, and those within the scene are free to change their perceptions, with or without the artist. It's just life.
At the moment, all we have is the same old painting, and people still talk about it, although they are baffled why it has such a different effect than the show. At the moment, 'Star Wars', 'Batman', 'Halloween', 'Harry Potter' and 'Doctor Who' are all putting on art shows, and it is their success that attracts more people to see it.
They each had their own start in the public consciousness, and it has only been very recently that they have all developed a greater level of appeal. It's the artists that created it and not their art, and they still have so much to offer.
I hope that in this post you have found a new angle to look at the art you love. Like the children say: What's it worth? Let us know on our Facebook page or Twitter.
